Power of Suggestion
Humans can sometimes manipulate the environment or stage a series of events in order to suggest a certain path to someone without specifically making it clear. Are you able to do this? Do you think it is devious to do so?
I have been told that I definitely have this ability. The power of suggestion is an ability sometimes needed by certain people in certain situations. I do not see it as a devious thing at all, unless you have a "bad" reason for using your ability.
No, I don't have the talent for this. Some people call it "manipulation" rather than the power of suggestion. However, if it's done in such a way that I can see the intent behind the suggestion is a benefit, I'm okay with it. What I don't appreciate is finding out later that I was mentally swayed or influenced to do something by deceitful means.
I know that I can (and have) subtly manipulated situations in favour of my preferred outcome.
I know though, that whether or not my intention is good or well-meant, by using an indirect approach I could offend or even anger a person who figures out they've been "used".
I've found that although it's more troublesome and slower, hashing it out the long way is often more appreciated in the end. I'd only "manipulate" in case of emergency.
I yearn to have that ability, but I seem to be far too frank to be able to do so. But my having it would be a bad thing, for I would be tempted to use it wickedly. I agree with what someone earlier said concerning that as long as you use this skill with good intent it is not devious or rotten at all.
I think I do have to use a skill such as this in my work. I am rather new to the company which I work for, but I have been working in this line of work for several years. But because I have no 'formal' training in it, many of the so called experts do not expect me to have any ideas to improve things nor to be able to see things that aren't right and be able to correct them, or at least have the ideas that the people who can implement the corrections can use.
I've had to rather quickly develope a subtle way to get the changes I feel are needed implemented without seeming like I am trying to force these changes down anyone's throat, so to speak.
