Chantix

I saw a commercial about Chantix, it is supposed to help you lose any desire for smoking but check their disclaimer...

QUOTE
Some people have had changes in behavior, hostility, agitation, depressed mood, suicidal thoughts or actions while using CHANTIX to help them quit smoking. Some people had these symptoms when they began taking CHANTIX, and others developed them after several weeks of treatment or after stopping CHANTIX. If you, your family, or caregiver notice agitation, hostility, depression, or changes in behavior, thinking, or mood that are not typical for you, or you develop suicidal thoughts or actions, anxiety, panic, aggression, anger, mania, abnormal sensations, hallucinations, paranoia, or confusion, stop taking CHANTIX and call your doctor right away. Also tell your doctor about any history of depression or other mental health problems before taking CHANTIX, as these symptoms may worsen while taking CHANTIX. Ref. Source 7

Makes you wonder if its even worth taking it!

Chantix

I've seen commercials about this medicine recently, but then yesterday I saw something on the news about it being unsafe. I don't see why anyone would take Chantix with all the risks involved. They might as well quit smoking, cold turkey. The FDA will let any drug slide. How is this drug healthier than smoking cigarettes? I hate cigarettes, but I hate harmful prescription drugs masked as wonderful life changers even more. You need to gain a little more self control if you rely on a pill to stop you from poisoning yourself with cigarette smoke.

Sometimes I wonder how these drugs make it past the FDA to sale to consumers. A drug that can radically change a person to someone else is as dangerous as that person still smoking.

I think the risk may be worth it if your situation is equal to the risk. For instance a heavy chain smoker that gets the shakes, becomes really agressive and possibly violent might benefit from something like this since its a what do you got to lose kind of story. Someone just trying to quit should use some self hypnosis to help them develop the willpower to really quit.

If someone shakes when they don't get their cigarette, or if they get violent, they are way too addicted. I can't imagine someone being so out of control and blaming cigarettes for it. They'd have to be way out of touch with themselves or what's going on in their life.
