Personally, I still love learning Latin grammar and vocabulary (I've been studying it since I've been around eight), but I'm wondering if it's still applicable in this generation. The concept of studying Latin to prove that you are a part of a higher society is now no longer acceptable. "Higher society" seems elitist nowadays (it is, but it's always going to be there, whether people deem it egotistical or not).
I'm just wondering if Latin is going to soon quiet itself and once again become a dead language. I would feel horrible if that happened: I mean, look at how many people will go "huh?" if you ask them if they like the Aeneid!
What do you think? Is Latin being buried in a sea of text-messaging and Spanish and French electives?
If you love learning that then you must be really smart. I like how it sounds when they use it to cast spells in movies. We still use some Latin when we describe body parts, I always thought that was kind of weird but then again English is made from Latin, German and French I think.
