Skype video calling for Android phones
Skype, which is being bought by Microsoft for US$8.5 billion (NZ$10.2 billion), introduced a new service on Thursday allowing users of Android phones to make free video calls to Skype contacts, including those on Apple iPhones. Ref. Source 1
I was just introduced to the world of skype and I think that it is very neat. The ability to see and speak with individuals who are thousands of miles away is very cool. It seems like not that long ago the whole idea of video communication was in the realm of science fiction. Amazing how quickly things change.
Now that Microsoft bought it, I am just wondering how long it will be before there are no free options for calling. I use it a lot and actually pay for some subscriptions that are helpful when I am traveling, but always try to do the computer to computer free calling when possible.
Did Skype Give a Private Company Data on Teen WikiLeaks Supporter Without a Warrant?:
Skype's privacy credentials took a hit in July over a refusal to comment on whether it could eavesdrop on conversations. Now the Internet chat service is facing another privacy-related backlash-after allegedly handing over user data without a warrant to a private security firm investigating pro-WikiLeaks activists.
