My goodness! You truly need to keep your kids by your side at ALL times!

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -  Police say a 61-year-old man annoyed with a crying 2-year-old girl at a Walmart slapped the child several times after warning the toddler's mother to keep her quiet.

A police report says after the stranger hit the girl at least four times, he said: "See, I told you I would shut her up."

Roger Stephens is charged with felony cruelty to children. It was unclear if he had an attorney and a telephone call to his home Wednesday was unanswered.

Authorities say the girl and her mother were shopping Monday when the toddler began crying. The police report says Stephens approached the mother and said, "If you don't shut that baby up, I will shut her up for you."

Authorities say after Stephens slapped the girl, she began screaming....

When my kids were younger I kept them with me at all times, there are way too many crazy people out there. Come to Spain and you'll see how short tempered the Spaniards can be!

This guy is lucky it was not my child he slapped. He would have been knocked half way across the store by me.

It's sort of hard for a woman to do that with much success. I would have tried though, probably kicked him in the ...shin as hard as I could, that could work. Also, he probably wouldn't have been so bold if it had been a man with a child.

Name: Onlooker

Comments: I witnessed something almost as harsh recently. A toddler was behaving badly in a store. The mother looked overwhelmed. An old lady comes in the store looks on at how the toddler is behaving and starts to manhandle the toddler to get him to settle down as though she were the mother. I was open mouthed and so was the mother who grabbed the toddler and an argument ensued that eventually died on when the mother left with her child.

Goodness, he definitely would not want to do that to a child of mine. A palm strike to the nose is not pleasant. What is it with people? How awful.

Comments: You guys may think this is terrible but in small towns in the deep southern states you have this happening regular. Its all part of the Bible brainwash of not sparing the rod and spoiling the child. Parents think their neighbor is 'helping'.
