Poverty

I do not believe this quote. While it was said by a wise man I think in todays age it does not hold as truth. While those in poverty can bring about change I do not believe that they are the only means now. Revolution can come from any sector of a country now.

Maybe in America or perhaps other civilized countries this quote holds less truth. However in many third world countries I would consider it true. In Bolivia I think it was the people violently revolted when they could no longer afford water. The company that tried to control the water was forced out of the country and the people got their water back.

The End of Poverty? is a really good documentary that explains in detail how poverty works and is used as a tool by America (and other countries). It starts out sort of slow but is well worth the time, very informative.

I would say it is corruption within the government that causes poverty, which then causes crime and revolution. So then I would say "The father of poverty is corruption".

Granted it is not always corruption, sometimes things just don't work right (famine, disease, ect ...)

I was recently reminded of our own revolution and our right to bear arms. I think we all have that right because the people who wrote the law understood the people need weapons to defend themselves. Otherwise the government or police can just take completely over.

KNtoran is right though, in America now people protest and change government policies without violence. In other countries where the police are like military units to suppress the people, guns are needed sometimes for the people to defend themselves.

I heard a little while ago a man say that the most violent low class citizens are in countries where the disparity between rich and poor is the greatest. Meaning the bigger the gap between the rich and poor, the more violent the poor are. I think there is some truth to this as well.

I know I have already said this but, if you get a chance try and see the documentary The End of Poverty? . I cannot stress how informative this movie was for me.
