How come police officers only carry one set of handcuffs? There are always situations where they need to arrest more than one person and as they ask for backup that may take a few minutes, how do they handle situations like that as they wait for help?

Never thought about that, I guess because they can only arrest one person at a time.

No, they can arrest as many as it is needed hence my question why they carry only one set. On the show cops today a police officer arrested two persons, one of them had the handcuffs and the other the officer actually hold the woman's hand from the back until help arrived.

My uncle is a cop. I asked him the same question in the past and he said not all officers carry one set some carry two or three it all depends on what they wanna carry around.

My cousin told me he carried 3 at a item as a Military MP. A side thought is that if your gong to arrest more then one odds are you do not go in along as that is dangerous. Hard to subdue more then one target at a time. Even black belts in martial arts try to avoid two or three on one.
