The Peace Movement Stands in Solidarity with Venezuela. The United National Antiwar Coalition (UNAC) and the Black Alliance for Peace (BAP) have issued a strong statement calling for the U.S. Government to stop its attempts to destabilize the Venezuelan government Ref. Source 4p.
The Treasury Department slapped sanctions on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, sending a clear signal of the Trump administration's opposition to his regime.
The move comes a day after Maduro declared a sweeping victory in a vote that will allow him to further consolidate his power in the crisis-torn nation.
"Yesterday's illegitimate elections confirm that Maduro is a dictator who disregards the will of the Venezuelan people," said Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin in a statement.
Venezuela's attorney general lambasted the election, which established a new legislative body made up entirely of Maduro's supporters.
"This is the end of freedom of expression," Attorney General Luisa Ortega said. Ref. CNN.
And here is another example of how evil people rise to power and figure out ways to stay there. He's going to use his new power to imprison those who disagree with him, those who oppose him. Not because they are breaking the law but because he doesn't like them for opposing him. It's too bad this pattern seems to repeat itself over and over in human history.
