Well what Tenaheff said there about the driving force behind sales at the end of the year is true, and Christmas is just the excuse really. You can see that when they make a sign that says, 'Xmas Sale' and they cross Christ out of the whole affair.
Offtopic but, Tenaheff you may like to take a look at this thread: click here and also this one. |
Starting Christmas sales before Thanksgiving bugs me too~
About 8 Years ago I went into a real snit because all the stores went from Halloween right to Christmas. I was looking for some Thanksgiving things: placemats, decorations, etc., and couldn't find a thing except some bright orange napkins!
I bugged my husband to make me some Thanksgiving cut-outs, lifesize out of plywood. I wanted to put them on the roof of our house and in the front near the county road. With a HUGE sign that said: Don't Forget Thanksgiving!. He flat refused. So I mixed up poster paint with dishwashing soap and decorated every window in the house with Thanksgiving themes! Left them there for an entire year too! And I refused to do the Christmas tree and decorations that year.
I pretty much ignore the aisles in the stores that have the Christmas stuff until after Thanksgiving. Sometimes that means I only go to 1/3 of the stores.
