In my experience in running many Communities over the years I have found there are mainly two kinds of people that communicate on a daily basis. The first one is the 'happy to be here' kind of member that will participate in good Discussion without much thought for the personal dislikes he may have about anything within the online environment. This kind of poster understands that you cannot cater for everyone, and adapts to what is available understanding that everything is free anyway. They may even contribute to the Community after seeing what is involved. Quite exploration of the offerings is why they are appreciative.

Then there is the hasty pessimist who is by nature negative. Nothing satisfies them and they often see themselves as more important than the online environment. I have found that the more a Member constantly requests changes to something that already works, the more likely they will not be around for long. These types will bypass a full page of instructions so that they can contact you to ask the very same question already answered. They do not take the time to read and often find a new environment hard to adapt to. They are not really there to Discuss anything, just leech. I have become expert in frustrating these types and this may be the reason why they end up on a hate trip. For instance... On one Community I have the requirement to join says that an Introduction must be made first. The hasty pessimist decides that they are going to try and bypass that... But it does not work, I have added code to force them to make the Introduction they agreed to. Some will make a half hearted Intro and then complain about having to do it, even though they agreed to it beforehand. I have never seen anyone who complained about making an Introduction post more than four or five messages. Usually I just delete a member immediately if they use their Intro to rant because if they are trouble now they will definitely be more trouble later.
