The Jewish people have a right to exist just like everyone does. So I condemn those who want to destroy the Jewish culture, people, and society. However with that said, I also believe that the Palestinians have a right to exist just as much as the Jews. They are living in a world of apartheid and victims to the Jewish state and expansion. Forget about the media I know people who actually do peace work and negotiations over in Israel, and it is not what the conservatives and the Fox news would have you think. There is oppression and both sides suffer from it. Jewish hardliners always seem to start wars when their electoral power is threatened.
Right now Isreal's aggressiveness is because of Isreal's re-establishment of deterrence that is has lost over the recent years. The reality is I do not think that both sides are going to get along in a democracy, so a 2 state situation is the most likely solution. For this to work, Israel has to be re-assured that their culture, and existence will not be threatened. This will be hard to do with the holocaust history that they have. But on the other hand Israel has to acknowledge the Palestinian pain and expereince that it has suffered. It is only then will we begin to make headway.
Now as I said before, I do not think that this is the prophecy of Israel's return. It just does not fit in my opinion. Even if it is it does not give any people the right to oppress another and justify its immoral acts of violence upon the Palestinians, nor the Palestinians upon them.
I guess the question I would ask if I was Israel is "What is so bad in a young Arab's life that they feel that suicide bombing is so attractive then living? You can say religious ideas, but I would say that ones expectation of a hopeful future has to play a role in that decision. You do not see any rich and wealthy Arabs setting off bombs. Isreal has some power to stop this by improving the Palestinians lives.
I do not think the price of a people's morality is worth the cost of owning God's chosen land.
I wonder how dbackers feel about this topic after the horrible crime Israel committed when they hit that international aid flotilla and killed 9 peaceful activists. I could never consider myself a Zionist.
The "aid" flotilla was a cover. It carried far more than just humanitarian aid. When Israeli military boarded it to verify exactly what it had, they were attacked by the "peaceful" activists with knives and clubs. That is when the military fought back.
The "peaceful" activists were/are members of Hamas support groups as well as other anti-Israeli activists. The whole thing was set up to force the Israeli military into action so that these terrorist support groups could get people like SuzieSu to say exactly what she did.
By the way, here is what Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had to say about anti-Zionism.
Nighthawk why would I believe Israel when the rest of the world had condemned their actions? Do you expect me to believe them when they are the only one claiming that story? I mean you sound like an intelligent guy you know what am I mean? I also think you're reasonable, now this isn't reasonable.
Since the "rest of the world" that is saying the opposite of what Israel is saying consists entirely of the Muslim world and their European socialist supporters, all of whom want nothing more than to destroy Israel, I will take Israel's story.
If there were hundreds of people on those ships, and the Israelis were shooting indiscriminately, how is it that only nine died?
Can you explain to me how the Israeli soldier got his stomach cut open? Or did he just do it himself?
I have been following the history of the Muslim fiction machine for years. There is plenty of physical, photographic, and audio evidence of their fictions. This is another one of them.
Israeli soldiers attempted to board the ship. The first one down was clubbed, then taken away, stripped, and his stomach was slit open. When the terrorists took him to the deck of the ship to attempt to demoralize the rest of the Israeli soldiers, one of them shot the terrorists with rubber bullets. They let the Israeli go, he jumped into the salt water (with a huge open wound, including his intestines hanging out), and made his way towards another Israeli ship.
How would you react if that was your son?
By the way, how do you react to Martin Luther King, Jr.'s statement I posted? Or is it just another thing to disregard since the Jews obviously bring it all upon themselves?
I always thought I was a supporter of Israel and her right to be in the Middle East but I would not attach a title to myself as being "Zionist". I also consider myself more neutral to the actual country which is tied up in many political and religious angles that makes the affair very complicated. In other words, I see the State of Israel and her government as different from the spiritual Israel.
