While growing up I always learnt the 'Bible Stories', you know, the ones that are told about 'Baby Jesus' and so on. I gained an appreciation for how special Jesus was from this, but it was not until I served a mission did I get a drop of understanding for how it must have felt for him to walk the streets looking for people that would follow after Him. Now I realize how much I must rely on him, I see more and more that I am absolutely nothing and that indeed I have to humble myself before his Greatness. I believe every knee shall bow and confess... I look forward to be already bowing before any compulsion sets in. Indeed He is the ultimate Example, my Saviour, the one I pay tribute to above any man.

Since I was only a very small child, I remember opening my Bible and enjoying reading the New Testament, specially the miracles of Jesus Christ, even though I was very young, I used to read those stories over and over and over and a warm feeling always came to my heart everytime I ponder on those stories.
Years passed and then I joined the Church. My love for Jesus Christ have grown so much and I truly love him deeply. I will never fully understand his Atonement and why he would want to die for me but I do believe his love is the greatest of all things. I have dreamt with him twice and in those 'special' dreams I have, tears always flow in my cheeks everytime he looks or talks to me.
I feel His presence and love, everytime I feel down and depressed. The hymn 'Where can I turn for peace?' has so much meaning to me, specially when it says "Where, when my aching grows, Where, when I languish, Where, in my need to know, where can I run? Where is the quiet hand to calm my anguish? Who, who can understand? He, only One. He answers privately, Reaches my reaching In my Gethsemane, Savior and Friend. Gentle the peace he finds for my beseeching. Constant he is and kind, Love without end.

Christ Testimony Your

I was inactive for almost 20 years (see Testimony thread for all those gory details).

About 3 years ago, I finally obeyed some very strong urges to go back to church. Since that time, through study and prayer I have come to understand more about the Savior and what He actually did for us -- and for me, personally. I am so humbled and so grateful for the opportunity to learn about Him, to serve Him, and if I am faithful to one day be with Him. I strive to learn more about the Savior, to gain a greater testimony of Him, to be worthy of the sacrfice He made. There is so much to know, such wisdom to seek out!

I believe the testimony of the first apostles -- that Jesus Christ lived, was killed upon the cross for the sins of mankind, and arose on the third day. He has a resurrected body of flesh, bone, and spirit that will never die. It is my great hope that one day we can abide with Him as resurrected beings for eternity.

I add my witness to the powerful testimonies above. I did not know much about Jesus growing up. The first time I really learned anything about Him was when I was about 9. I read in a note from a family member that Jesus gave up everything for me, even His life. I now know that Jesus somehow performed the miraculous atonement. The love, the absolute commitment so that we would have the ability to live with Him and Heavenly Father forever, the utmost devotion to all of His brothers and sisters, the amount of genuine empathy, and His total submission to Heavenly Father's will is something that I could only hope to understand a fraction of before the end of my life. I also know that Jesus lived for us, doing everything in righteous obedience to God, demonstrating that He was and is indeed the Messiah, who was prophesied to come. ..."I believe in Christ,; oh, blessed name! As Mary's Son he came to reign 'Mid mortal men, his earthly kin, to save them from the woes of sin. I believe in Christ, who marked the path, Who did gain all his Father hath, Who said to men: "Come follow me, That ye, my friends, with God may be." I have tasted of the sweet forgiveness that comes when I have applied the atonement in my life. Repentance really is a divine process. I have also, after years of trying to understand, felt the atonement give me peace for the things I have suffered in my life. Christ has suffered everything and He is able to understand and help me heal from my pain. I am deeply grateful for Jesus Christ, and I hope that I am becoming more like Him. Your Testimony Of Christ

While I continue to need Christ desperately, I am beginning to understand that as we mature in the Gospel, we can move beyond simply being grateful recipients of His tremendous grace and benefits to our lives.

When we were children, we never thought of our parents as real people. We only thought of them as they impacted our own interests and activities. It wasn't until we grew up and became adults and parents ourselves that we began to understand and know our parents as individuals. We were engaged in the same work of family-building that they were, so we were able to empathize with them and get to know them on a deeper level, closer to equals.

So it is with Christ. He is the father of our born-again spirits (see King Benjamin's discourse in Mosiah: ye have become his sons and his daughters, for this day he has spiritually begotten you). We should never forget what he has done for us, and continues to do for us. But as children of Christ, we can "grow up" and get to know him on a different level. We do this by engaging ourselves in His work and helping to build His family. Just as Christ spoke in the D&C to Joseph Smith & co. as "my sons," then "my servants," and then "my friends," we too can advance in relation to Christ to become his co-worker and his friend, not just his child. Eventually, if we're worthy, we'll really get to know him and become intimate with him: "this is life eternal, to know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent."

My goal is not only to worship Christ with all my heart and soul, but to become such a loyal and trustworthy servant that when I see him, He will recognize me as a colleague in His work: his friend. I have a really long way to go, but I can see that as my prayers and concerns mature from being focused on MY problems and MY life to being nearer to HIS interests and concerns, namely building his kingdom, I grow more like him: more like his friend than his child. He already accomplished this in His life by being so obedient to His father that they are one. Hopefully we can accomplish the same thing with Christ.
