Client Wants To Set Terms

Client Wants To Set Terms

It is always good to have a detailed terms of service explaining what you will do and not do. Also how, when and method of payment should be included. These things reduce assumptions between service provider and client.

In my experience most potential clients are accustomed to doing business in a certain way and when it comes to online business most times its a sloppy way. I say "sloppy" because a lot of users online are looking for cheap designers from DP, SP, WHS and other places where people advertise as professionals but they are far from it. Then these potential clients contact you and think they are still in DP - they try to haggle, get you to change your terms of service and fight very hard not to pay as though you are desperate. I never could understand these types. I do not go around contacting people by Email to give me something for less than is asked for their work, nor do I insist that they change their terms just because I think it should be so.

Now I know there must be some flexibility at times, but one must understand that there must be monetary remuneration for that! Smileys and "thanks" do not feed hungry mouths. Thus the online battle continues.

Terms Set Wants Client

Terms are good for the client as well. I remember asking a guy sometime back when I had a club site to do some coding for me and when he was finished I wasn't impressed so I contacted him about it and asked if he could make two changes. He writes me back and says that what I wanted wasn't in the terms of the job and he wanted more money. I asked him where his terms were so I could read them, he tells me does not have a page of terms, so what he was really saying is he just made the terms in his head and I had to guess what they were rolleyes.gif. So unprofessional. Anyone running a businesses needs to say what their terms are!
