People not in the U.S. Legally are barred from many jobs because they don't have Social Security numbers, but a new law has changed that. Unauthorized immigrants now have the ability to get professional licenses in areas including nursing, architecture and more. Ref. Source 8n.
LAPD will not help deport immigrants
The LAPD has no plans to change its stance on immigration enforcement, despite Donald Trump's pledge to deport millions of people. "We are not going to work in conjunction with Homeland Security on deportation efforts," said Chief Charlie Beck. Ref. Source 9t.
I don't believe the police should be doing that sort of work either. If in the process of being detained or arrested you find out that the person is illegal then immigration officials can be called but the police have a more important matter of enforcing local laws, solving murders, etc.

Bill seeks immigration enforcement 'safe zones'
The leader of the state Senate wants to create "Safe zones" prohibiting immigration enforcement in public schools, hospitals and courthouses. The measure also would bar police from sharing information with federal agents about immigrants being released from jails Ref. Source 9z.
So they want to make it difficult for immigration officials to do their job and then what? Its almost like an all clear to have more illegals come into America.

California 'sanctuary cities' plan to stand firm
The president's plan to crack down on sanctuary cities that protect immigrants in the U.S. Illegally is being met with resolve by some California communities. More than 40 California jurisdictions, including L.A. And San Francisco, have such policies. Los Angeles Times Ref. Source 9c.
