'Star Trek': Back to the frontier with J.J. Abrams at the helm
Seven years after the most recent movie (Star Trek: Nemesis) and four after the slow death of TV's Enterprise, Paramount is calling for a do-over. The guy they hired to do it says things like: "I was not a huge fan to begin with." And: Star Trek "Seemed to promise adventure more than it would deliver." That's J.J. Abrams, the producer of Lost and Alias, and director of Mission: Impossible 3, practically begging die-hard fans to hope he succumbs to a Vulcan death grip. Ref. Source 6

I am so excited by this movie. It has a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes (Movie review site).
I have always liked the dichotomy between the logical and the emotional that can be found in the show.
Star trek has always been considered a Utiopian Liberal look at the future, but it made me , a conservative, think about the possibilities of humanity reaching beyond this earth, and the fact that it would probably face the same issues that we have now.
Racism (Or more specifically Xenophobia), clashes between differing religions, ideals, and cultures.
Star trek is a good morality play, because it uses metaphor to discuss real world issues in a non confrontational way.
I saw this movie this past Saturday. I found the movie to be very good and the actors that played the younger original members were pretty good too. I think that I will buy this movie when it comes out on DVD. As for a review I give the movie 2 Edited: KNtoran on 12th May, 2009 - 4:30pm
I just saw this movie a few hours ago, and I loved it. It was the best thing that could happen to Star Trek.
It was awesome.
I actually cried the first ten minutes and my emotions were pulled in every direction throughout. I want to see it again.
I saw the movie this last weekend. It was pretty good. I actually liked it more than the Shatner lead efforts of the past. The young actors actually did a great job of mixing in a youthful outlook with a glimpse of their future character with their performances. The movie made sense for the most part and didnt feel like they were jamming in a story to keep the series running. My only issue with the story lies in the ending and how Kirk ends up as the captain. However, not to be a spoiler...I wont aire that here. Good movie that was worth the money and time to view it. I would like for them to make another with this crew.
