FLINTOFF ON FIRE AS AUSTRALIANS CRASH FOR 367
LONDON: Australia, battling to keep their Ashes hopes alive at a murky Oval, lost their last seven wickets for 44 runs after Andrew Flintoff thundered his way to the second five-wicket haul of his career on the fourth day of the fifth and final test on Sunday.

That's a very good question. What was wrong with the Australians?
I think we lost the Ashes for many reasons.
Firstly, we underestimated England and did not study their team, how they play and their strengths. There were never field settings for certain batsmen including ordinary bastsment like Flintoff, whereas England had a strategy for every Aussie player.
Secondly, we played very poorly. Two of our frontline bowlers Gillespie and Kasprowicz, did not fire at all. In fact Gillespie has hit the worst form of his career and I fear his days as a test player are numbered. England played as well as they could and I take my hat off to them.
Thirdly, our preparation was terrible. We have had no serious opposition since India, almost two years before the Poms. England were match hardened after a tour of South Africa.
Fourthly, Our players are getting on a bit. Most of our team are still brilliant in their own right, but they are heading towards the twilight of their careers. But in saying that I would still only have one or two English payers in the Aussie team.
I also think our loss has been blown out of proportion
We only lost the series 2-1 and in one of the games we were robbed when Kasper was incorrectly given out with 3 runs remaining for victory. The last game where we dominated was also rubbed out due to bad weather and we missed McGrath, the world's best seamer by a mile, for most of the series.
England claim they will become the best team with a couple more series wins, but we lost in their conditions. Let's see them beat us at home. The World XI certainly failed.

Congratulations to Brian Lara who has overtaken Allan Border's record for the most runs in test cricket. What a champion, when he was down and out, he rose to score 220 odd against the best bowling attack in the world to take the record.
