Bible On Faith vs Reason
What does the Bible teach with regards to Faith vs. Reason?
This is a perfect topic for a question that has been pounding in my head.
Is faith a cop out, an excuse to not know anything having to do with logic?
"I believe, it is due to faith, if you do not have faith you do not understand." Is a common thought I run against.
This seems to me to be a problem for anyone who wants to grow spiritually. Simply believing in something because someone or something tells you it is true is insane. Just because you have questions should not be a matter of have I lost my faith, am I a backslider.
It should be an indication to you that something about your religion is bugging you. Instead of drownding it out with whatever. Look up some information on the subject. Form your own educated opinion.
Previously in history religion has been abe to manipulate masses because we were sort of locked off in our own communities and cultures. Now we have access to each other and can learn from one another, we are not trapped by our communities.
Take the time to question yourself and your beliefs. Wise men know that they truly know nothing. We are all growing in layers, like the layers in a tree stump. Sometimes there is rain, sometimes there isn't. Some times we may be wrong when we thought ourselves right.
It takes a truly wise person to see this and grow from it. Does it mean you are a bad person or less of a person. To me No, it means you are growing and learning about yourself, God, and the world around.
Not to put down any religion, I think the good hearted ones are magnificent.
