From the time of the documentary he was not allowed to practice so he is a medical consultant for a law firm. The daughter of Lesa Buchanan I think is still a student.

Comments: Sorry. Have to disagree with a number of the suppositions made regarding addiction, fault and blame here.
First of all addiction IS addiction. Willingly offering yourself up for it or having it injected in spite of protest changes not the effect. You will crave it later....thats why it is an addiction. Implying or supposing choice in the matter is a tad nieve.
Secondly, if you watch the video of the "sex tape" made on the weekend that her sister has testified she had gone there specifically with the intention of breaking up....and do so with a degree of impartiality...
Tell me this woman looks like a willing participant. Stoned? Yes. Into it? No. Playing to the camera? No. Exuberantly playing the roll? No.
She fails to make eye contact with the camera, averts her eyes while lighting a cigarette and looks generaly disgusted.
When asked to "lay back and put her feet in the air" she responds "yes" in deadpan.
Her demeanor and body language speak loudly enough in spite of the oxyconton.
I think, if you will allow me a degree of latitude here, that her boyfriend was making more of an insurance policy than a sex tape, that he was controlling enough manipulative enough and perverted enough to use the tape to exert even more control over her.
Addiction will make you do things you would never have done without the influence of a catalist drug.
One of these two was wrong. The other guilty.
No one deserved to die.

Comments: I think she shares some, probably most, of the responsibility for her death, BECAUSE she is responsible for her own actions. She was a drug user. But, this guy was a doctor so I'd have expected better judgement on his behalf. I don't have a great deal of sympathy for either of them. I do have sympathy for both families, however. Especially her daughter.

Title: Lesa Buchanan
Comments: Health care professionals are not supposed to get involved with their patients, romantically and/or sexually. That was where and how Lesa Buchanan met Koulis. Had the doctor followed the ethical and administrative code regulating his profession, her death would most likely never occurred. It might be likely that she would not have become addicted to oxycodone, a schedule II narcotic. Unfortunately, the prohibitions against these relationships are not enforced or even taken seriously when they come to light. Also unfortunate, other relationships between health care professionals and patients have resulted in preventable deaths.
