Geenie that's ridiculous. The fact he is white has nothing to do with the crime, whoever said that has issues. This is a case of a powerful man, famous one but his skin color has no relevance in this case.

Now where would you get the idea that a person's skin colour has nothing to do with getting away with the crime? Please allow me to give you a classic example of how other people are treated. Wesley Snipes was being hunted down for tax evasion. He was also sentenced to three years for his crime. Here are more details on this report:

Explain to me why they chose to ensure that Wesley Snipes was quickly arrested and charged accordingly for failing to file his income taxes and also defrauding the US government for $12 million dollars! Why didn't anyone treat Roman Polanski's crime as a serious one?

Well here in the USA we all know that if you have a lot of money you can do a crime and pay big bucks to do little to no time. Those with a lot of money are playing by a whole different set of rules and it is enough to make me sick that he will be getting off so easy.
Sorry Geenie I don't believe in playing the race card everytime we hear a crime like this. I'm literally sick that in this country we're always kind of apologizing for being white. I cant stand the eternal slavery mentality. You're bringing a totally different case to this scenario and insinuating one was condemned because he's black and another got away because he's white. Yeah, always the white folks have it easier.
Polanski is a criminal okay, he should be condemned to life in prison as far as I'm concerned but isn't his skin color what is helping him but his contacts and his fame.

Sleuth you did not asnwer my question. I would like to know why was Wesley Snipes hunted down so quickly and sentenced? Why didn't anyone react as quickly as this when it came to Polanski?

One way to look at it is that Wesley Snipes was in the US, and US authorities were able to hunt him down and arrest him.
Polanski fled the US, and went to France, where French authorities refused to do anything about him. As to why Switzerland only arrested him now instead of many years ago is something that you will have to ask the Swiss authorities. Although, I would suspect it would have something to do with the State Department and how much pressure it takes to get them to do anything constructive.
By the way, Polanski WAS hunted down and arrested for the crime.

Thanks for that explanantion Nighthawk. That's why I said the two cases have no comparison whatsoever, it just happens that one of persons is black and the other is white. We're in 2009 its time to stop the race card game, we have enough with a president who was chosen because of that reason. Hopefully Polanski will get what he deserves in due time.
