So the job did not work out, and was pretty much a bust. Others have in the past offered concern with me working sales and now I understand. Especially door to door, where so often I either had no one answer the door/not be there or not even given me five seconds to explain why I was there.

The main issue though was conflict with my manager, who brushed aside my explanation of having Aspergers, pushed and pressured sales, and even tried making me work extra hours before insulting me when I tried to explain that I could not. I left because I could not see a career arising from continued employment, and with the lack of respect and feeling my esteem lowing not improving.

I have been in something of a down mood and focusing on trying to find new employment as well, so my apologizes from the lack of replies. I will see to keeping up with that as best I can.

I'm so sorry Thomas. I was concerned when I saw you were getting into sales. All sales is hard but door to door is worse. So many households have two workers so no one is home during the day. People aren't trusting anymore if they are home and are reluctant to let a stranger in. Then there is just the pressure. Very few people can do it. The industry chews people up. When I was 19 I tried selling new Fords in between semesters. A friend talked me into it. I lasted a couple of months one summer. There is always pressure to sell more. Management isn't very understanding. All they care about are numbers.

All that was just to say don't feel badly. It is extremely hard for anyone. You know now that it isn't for you. I know that you will find a job soon that is more suited to your skill set. Best of luck to you Thomas! I look forward to seeing you in game more. I have missed Geoffroy, Elyria and Kyra.

Thomaslee, that's too bad. You may need to look for work that is more independent. If you can study a profession that allows you to work your own hours and for yourself. You will be happier that way.

Good luck Thomaslee. I failed at door to door sales myself. Found a job using numbers and doing people and companies taxes for a living.

It was probably for the best, as I was a bit uncomfortable with some of the manager's practices given how it got explained how he used his business for tax write offs and reimbursements to make more money for expenses. This I felt uncertain if it was abusing the system or not, though he tried telling me it wasn't.

Well my skills are, based on previous work experience, use of computers, call centers, production, landscaping, and stocking. Though in all honesty, employment where I use computers would probably play best to my strengths, but not perhaps where I have to deal with customers as much and more working without much interaction with others. Perhaps data entry.

I want to avoid call centers, as the last two employers for such, while the most recent was almost nine months, as I always had an issue with taking too long on calls and going out of scope… though I got great positive customer review. They just can't get the sort of speed out of me, under 15 minutes as the daily average, that seemed to be expected or demanded for call centers.

Though I have like ten years of seasonal landscaping experience and can do quite well with such, the heat in Utah would make such work difficult for me. Now more then ever given how my weight has increased slowly over the years. I could do it, but I would need to try to do such more early in the morning since it is the summer time.

I am social, and can get along with others with a friendly demeanor, though empathy is more difficult given my more analytical and technical mindset in solving a problem. Given the right situation though I think it can work, simply not in trying to sell something to someone or deescalating someone who is upset.

Production, it has been a while and mattering the pace it might be difficult for me to keep the sort of speed expected or demanded, especially without making mistakes that could slow the process down or get me in trouble.

Sighs, as you can see I have thought things out though not all is perhaps as positive as it could be given a lack of confidence, which my previous manger did get right even though his methods were doing nothing to improve my confidence.
