Disorder Personality Borderline

I may be an expert in answering this particular question since I have a daughter who was diagnosed with this. It isn't a distinct two personalities that manifest themselves, but rather a blend of several personalities with no one person coming out at a time. This daughter is the youngest of two that we adopted at age 9. Her sister was 10. She did have the differing beliefs that she was pregnant with her boyfriends baby,(she wasn't) She just about had us convinced that another boyfriend was gay(not) It was a soap opera around here. She even convinced a neighbor that she had chosen her to be her new mom. Even to introducing her as her new mom at High School. So we had to check out all of her stories with other sources to find out what was really going on.
She was 17 at that time. Very manipulative.

Borderline Personality Disorder Health & Special Psychology

There are medical and dictionary definitions of it, of course, but seeing it is much different as the above poster's story exemplifies. I believe my grandmother to have it, as her behavior is quite similar to BHunter's daughter, coming up with various bizarre scenarios which she asserts and I guess believes to be true. She had aliens take her baby; a friend of the family sexually molested her in her home; she's being drugged, poisoned, hypnotized, etc. She seems also paranoid and is a religious Pentecostal church-goer, so some of those traits don't mix in any positive way with the rest of her behavior. I can see "different people" in her when she acts some ways, so I personally believe this is BP.

Discussing this BP with my wife she also remembered that our daughter was always the victim, and went to great lengths to talk to anyone to get sympathy, and one time convinced one of her friends mother that she was able to pick her as her new mom, took her to her high school and was going around introducing her AS THE NEW MOM! Fortunately one of her friends called us to ask what was going on? So the heads up was very helpful and we called her to tell her about her appointment with her favorite counselor. (she could manipulate this counselor) Well her new mom took her to the appointment and my wife followed, but at the facility which had a lock down capability, the new mom was stopped by security and my wife went on in to have her committed. I'll skip the nightmare that followed to present time when she called and asked if she could come visit. During the visit she apologized for all the trouble she put us through and asked for forgiveness and things have been MUCH BETTER. The world still revolves around her but she's decent.

How did your wife take finding out that her [..] daughter got a new mom? How old is your daughter if you don't mind me asking?

We both felt badly for this women because she has been in and out of mental institutions for the past 18 years. She wasn't stable to begin with and that experience just made it more confusing in her world. The daughter is 32.
