Beauty Queen Resigns After Lingerie Fraud
Well yes, someone who is a thief should not represent their country in a competition of this magnitude. It is sad though.
QUOTE SINGAPORE - Singapore's Miss World contestant has resigned after her conviction earlier this year for credit card fraud was revealed, a newspaper in the city-state reported Wednesday.
The Straits Times said Ris Low, 19, resigned Tuesday and will not represent Singapore at the contest in South Africa in December.
Local media last week reported she was sentenced to two years of probation for stealing credit cards and spending $5,642 on lingerie, cell phones and meals at fancy restaurants.
The Straits Times said Low told the newspaper she has bipolar disorder, which led her to go on the spending sprees...

I guess they will have to start adding the line "Have you ever been convicted of a crime" on the application sheets to enter these contests. One would think that if you want to be a representative of your country you would try to be a model citizen. Then again maybe she is a model citizen.
