Rio erupts in celebration with 2016 Olympics
RIO DE JANEIRO - Nearly 50,000 people cheered in celebration when Rio de Janeiro was announced as host of the 2016 Olympics, jumping and shouting in a Carnival-like party on Copacabana beach. A huge roar was heard at the famed beach the moment International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge said the words "Rio de Janeiro" Ref. Source 1
Rush Limbaugh is saying, and I agree with him, that Obama's interference is exactly WHY Chicago lost out. Obama thinks that the whole world loves him, so he and his wife made a huge media circus out of their attempts to sway the Olympic committee. So, by stealing the limelight from the committee, the committee was biased against them, and dumped Chicago in the first vote.
Personally, I think it is great that he was rejected.
I have to agree with that NightHawk. The President does not carry the clout that he thinks he has.
Obama's Olympic failure
Now it's time to 'Let the blame games begin!' Everyone is rushing to point the finger as to how Obama could make such a disastrous political move, flying over to pitch for the 2016 games to visit Chicago, when they really had no shot. Now some are calling Glenn's "cheerleading" of the failure anti-American, and some are even blaming Glenn and other conservatives as the reason for the "loss." But is it really a "loss?" Glenn looks at the financial disaster that is the Olympics -- and specifically highlights Athens. You may remember they had the games in 2004 -- how have the Games "helped" in the five years since?
