The decision on a lot of things is not really in the President's hands. Most times he is just working off the advice of his lawyers and whomever is advising him.
You are insulting us, Mr President
Due to the structure of our political system, President Richards should be above politics and refrain from the political circus that is passed off as governance in this country. Ref. Source 4

Rather off topic, but... But we should remember this, when Manning was building his massive mansion, the president's own home was falling apart and not once, he complained about this. I believe that this example alone, speaks volumes about who is really in control here. I think President George Maxwell Richards is a true Trini. All he is capable of doing is "wining down the place" and conducting himself in a vulgar and unprofessional manner. Have you ever seen the picture of him wining between two women shortly after he was appointed as President? |
If Max must go, Manning must go!
There is such a hue and cry for 'Max to go' but I think that lost in the furore is the fact that according to all the experts, the President consults with the PM & Opposition Leader and does not, in fact, have to heed their words. But just think of it, why does the President say that he alone is not to blame? Ref. Source 1
Still waiting for apology
Let's look at the salient aspects of President Richards' address to the nation, citizens of which still thirst for answers to make sense of a collapsed Integrity Commission that now seemed to have been conceived in a stew of hidden agendas and incompetence. Ref. Source 5
Absolutely unacceptable and ridiculous. Funny enough, he is bold enough to blame those who he appointed saying they should have told him they were not capable for the task at hand, what kind of non-sense is that? I am not surprised though I find here in Trinidad (unlike the rest of the world) people does not resign at all, no matter the scandal.
