Five new LDS temples planned
Five new temples for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were announced at the Saturday morning session of General Conference. In his opening remarks, President Thomas S. Monson, LDS Church president, announced the five sites - Brigham City; Concepcion, Chile; Fortaleza, Brazil; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and Sapporo, Japan. Ref. Source 7
Yes Jb, the temples here are literally crowded but there are so many around that I guess folks want to attend the closest to them you know, but anyhow I was surprised about the announcement about Brigham City since they have Ogden and Logan and the population at BC is not that big.
I think it is great. That means there is a need and the current ones are being overworked. There is actually some qualifications an area has to achieve before they even consider a Temple there. They take into account how many full tithe payers and activity levels of the area.
