Israeli Helicopters Carry Out Gaza Raids
AP - Israeli helicopters carried out air raids against four targets in Gaza early Friday, retaliating for a Palestinian rocket attack that killed a young Israeli woman. The surge in violence shook a five-month truce already threatened this week by a suicide bombing.

The below report made me think about what they were saying, and I have to ask: 'Is this pullout the work of Israel, USA, or the Palestines?
HAMAS TAKES CREDIT FOR ISRAELI PULLOUT FROM GAZA

TROOPS STORM SYNAGOGUES IN 2 JEWISH SETTLEMENTS
Riot troops stormed synagogues in two hard-line Jewish settlements Thursday to evict hundreds of militant holdouts who locked arms in a human chain and pelted soldiers with acid, oil and sand, the most violent clashes in Israel's historic Gaza pullout.

The violence is inevitable, yet it makes me so sad! The stories about the soldiers crying as they carry out orders to remove their fellow countrymen from homes and synagogues just tears my heart out.
I can't imagine a peaceful solution to any of this.

Sharon proposed his "disengagement plan" two years ago to ease Israel's security burden and help preserve Israel's Jewish character by placing Gaza's 1.3 million Palestinians outside the country's boundaries. Israel has occupied Gaza for 38 years. The Palestinian Authority and the United States want the pullout to be the beginning of the "road map" peace process, meant to bring about an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel. Palestinian militants are portraying the pullout as a victory for their suicide bombings and rocket attacks, and some Israelis fear they will resume their violence once the withdrawal is complete. |
So, now that Israel has pulled out of the Gaza strip, will there be any peace in the region? Here is some info on that:

Gaza's final evacuees
QUOTE |
The last Jewish inhabitants were removed from the Gaza Strip this week. They put up no resistance. Unlike the emotion-drenched scenes two weeks ago, when 8,500 residents were expelled from their homes - some in tears, some in prayer, some berating or imploring or grieving with the soldiers sent to evict them - the Gazan Jews who left this week went in silence. That is because they were taken from their graves - the remains of 48 men and women, exhumed from what was supposed to have been their final resting place in the Neveh Dekalim cemetery. As part of Israel's "disengagement" from Gaza and northern Samaria, even the dead had to leave. Israelis know from experience what happens to Jewish graves that fall into Arab hands. But far from reducing the terrorists' bloodlust, Israel's retreat from Gaza has only inflamed it. In just the past two weeks, a Palestinian knifed a Jewish student to death in Jerusalem's Old City, an Israeli policemen was stabbed in the throat by an Arab in Hebron, Kassam rockets were fired from Gaza into the southern Israeli town of Sderot, a suicide bomber blew himself up in Beersheba's crowded bus station, a Katyusha missile launched from Lebanon exploded in the Israeli village of Margaliot, a firebomb was thrown at an Israeli vehicle on a highway outside Jerusalem, and a 14-year-old boy from Nablus was caught with three bombs. In a videotape circulated by Hamas this week, archterrorist Mohammed Deif vowed that Israel's departure from Gaza would mean more of the same. "Today you leave Gaza in humiliation," he taunted the Israelis. "You are leaving hell. We promise that tomorrow, with Allah's help, all of Palestine will be hell for you." For the umpteenth time, an Israeli government spokesman urged the Palestinian Authority to disarm and dismantle Hamas, as required by the international "road map" it has agreed to. |
This is probably a hopeless quest, but here goes.
Another example of the "noble" Palestinian Arabs and their culture and religion of peace....

Christianity Dying in Its Birthplace
QUOTE |
What some observers are calling a pogrom took place near the West Bank city of Ramallah on the night of Sept. 3-4. That's when fifteen Muslim youths from one village, Dair Jarir, rampaged against Taybeh, a neighboring all-Christian village of 1,500 people. The reason for the assault? A Muslim woman from Dair Jarir, Hiyam Ajaj, 23, fell in love with her Christian boss, Mehdi Khouriyye, owner of a tailor shop in Taybeh. The couple maintained a clandestine two-year affair and she became pregnant in about March 2005. When her family learned of her condition, it murdered her. That was on about Sept. 1; unsatisfied even with this "honor killing" - for Islamic law strictly forbids non-Muslim males to have sexual relations with Muslim females - the Ajaj men sought vengeance against Khouriyye and his family. They took it two days later in an assault on Taybeh. The Ajajs and their friends broke into houses and stole furniture, jewelry, and electrical appliances. They threw Molotov cocktails at some buildings and poured kerosene on others, then torched them. The damage included at least 16 houses, some stores, a farm, and a gas station. The assailants vandalized cars, looted extensively, and destroyed a statue of the Virgin Mary. "It was like a war," one Taybeh resident told The Jerusalem Post. Hours passed before the Palestinian Authority security and fire services arrived. The fifteen assailants spent only a few hours in police detention, then were released. As for Khouriyye, the Palestinian police arrested him, kept him jail, and (his family says) have repeatedly beat him. |

This assault fits a larger pattern. According to the Catholic Custodian of the Holy Land, Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Christians in the Bethlehem region alone have suffered 93 cases of injustice in 2000-04. In the worst of these, in 2002, Muslims murdered the two Amre sisters, 17 and 19 years old, whom they called prostitutes. A post-mortem, however, showed the teenagers to have been virgins - and to have been tortured on their genitals. |
