Thanks again. Maybe if the UK or someone else had stayed there it would not be so messed up as it is now. I really don't see any solution to any of the problems there. They make it look like its just Israel but the Arabs also fight among themselves.
Unfortunately, I don't think any period of time was going to come to a solution where everyone was happy. The Partition Plan was nice on paper but not pratical as it separated pockets of each group. With increasing amounts of Israeli settlements and the fact that the Gaza Strip and the West Bank are not connected, I really see no way for a happy ending. Drawing boundaries that grant each country access to fresh water, sea port and claims to as much historical land as possible is just an impossible task.
The closest I was able to scheme would be to give back the entire West Bank to the Palestinians. The Palestinians give up the Gaza Strip. Israel extends the West Bank Boundaries to provide a portion of Lake Tiberias that connects the Golan Heights and provide land for a new airport that would be lost with the Gaza Strip. Also, Jerusalem would have to go under UN control. Everyone would be unhappy, but it would be the best chance for longterm peace. I just doubt that anything like this would happen. The closest was at one point during the Clinton Presidency during the 2000 Camp David Summit. It basically was a reversion back to the Pre Seven Day War boundaries with several caveats...the caveats basically crushed the deal.
