Well, from at tatical standpoint, they are actually going into Gaza and blowing up the tunnels to make them useless for a while. It appears as though, they have succeeded in this point. What you see right now is just retaliation for rocket fire from Gaza. As soon as a cease fire stops or even before that, rockets are launched out a Gaza and you see the return fire from Israel. It isn't a one for one thing as the number of missiles launched from Gaza far out weigh the number from Israel. The interesting things is that they are starting to launch a bit more motars now out of Gaza...perhaps they are running low on missiles as well now?
A truce has been reached to end the fighting between Israel and Hamas militants in Gaza, all sides said today.
Palestinian and Egyptian officials announced the deal. A senior Israeli government official said Israel "Once again" Accepted Egypt's proposed ceasefire.
Throughout the conflict, Israel has openly accepted Egypt's ceasefire proposals and slammed Hamas for not doing so.
Egypt, which has brokered negotiations, said on state-run media that the ceasefire will go into effect at midnight local time (5 p.m. ET). But Hamas officials said it was to begin at 7 p.m. Local time. Ref. CNN
That is a interesting theory of tunnel requirement....but they are getting regular shipments even now on top of land! So why again, the need for tunnels? I know they are used for black market goods but again, it is not a steel cage:

Now, I can understand that everyone needs their occasional KFC fix:

Also, note the occasional shutting down of the Egyptian side that puts Gaza into a spin:

By the way, Hamas and Hezbollah are not inspiring rocket launches, they are actually ordering them. In addition, should you be thought to be helping Israelis...you run the risk of dying:

I still have trouble with the Aparthied-like cliche' as the reason we are at this point is far different than Aparthied was in Africa and it is a disservice to equate them from either side. However, I see no solution to this other than each party agreeing not to get what they want and Jerusalem becoming internationally owned and they just arent going to for that as it has been on the table for decades.
The transport by trucks is not enough to feed and supply one of the most densely populated places in the world. Consider it this way using your KFC fix, if you felt hungry for a dinner box but knew that you had to risk passing through an Israeli military post that you know is occupied by guys and gals that probably didn't like you very much would you go? Probably not, but why should you be restricted. We don't understand this kind of restriction because we live in a free country where you go anywhere you want at anytime without someone looking at you as a potential threat. For Palestinians living this daily the tunnel system is a god send, get their KFC and back in time to watch Amr Khaled before bedtime.
Israel's Video Justifying Destruction of a Gaza Hospital Was From 2009:
A video distributed by the Israeli military in July suggesting that Palestinian fighters had fired from the Al Wafa Rehabilitation and Geriatric Hospital in Gaza City was not shot during the recent Israeli attack on Gaza, and both audio and video clips were manipulated to cover up the fact that they were from entirely different incidents.
