Palestine Statehood Who Is Right? Should Palestine be its own soverign nation state? Why is the USA attempt to block this from happening? Is Israel using an apartheid system much like South Africa did where people are segregated into undesirable areas and become unable to access the basic necessities of life? Does Israel have a point that they have major security challenges against those trying to harm them? How can this be resolved or will it ever? Will there be a Palestine state?

Well, from at tatical standpoint, they are actually going into Gaza and blowing up the tunnels to make them useless for a while. It appears as though, they have succeeded in this point. What you see right now is just retaliation for rocket fire from Gaza. As soon as a cease fire stops or even before that, rockets are launched out a Gaza and you see the return fire from Israel. It isn't a one for one thing as the number of missiles launched from Gaza far out weigh the number from Israel. The interesting things is that they are starting to launch a bit more motars now out of Gaza...perhaps they are running low on missiles as well now?

Israel vs Palestine

A truce has been reached to end the fighting between Israel and Hamas militants in Gaza, all sides said today.

Palestinian and Egyptian officials announced the deal. A senior Israeli government official said Israel "Once again" Accepted Egypt's proposed ceasefire.

Throughout the conflict, Israel has openly accepted Egypt's ceasefire proposals and slammed Hamas for not doing so.

Egypt, which has brokered negotiations, said on state-run media that the ceasefire will go into effect at midnight local time (5 p.m. ET). But Hamas officials said it was to begin at 7 p.m. Local time. Ref. CNN

While the Israelis may be thinking that a tunnel might be leading straight into their living room the tunnels were mostly built because there needed to be some kind of access to get products into the Gaza. You can't wall people into an area unless they have all the basic necessities of life. While I do not agree with Hamas inspiring missiles to be fired into Israel I also do not condone the apartheid-like scenario Israel has come up with to confront the Palestinians.

That is a interesting theory of tunnel requirement....but they are getting regular shipments even now on top of land! So why again, the need for tunnels? I know they are used for black market goods but again, it is not a steel cage:

Now, I can understand that everyone needs their occasional KFC fix:

Also, note the occasional shutting down of the Egyptian side that puts Gaza into a spin:

By the way, Hamas and Hezbollah are not inspiring rocket launches, they are actually ordering them. In addition, should you be thought to be helping Israelis...you run the risk of dying:

I still have trouble with the Aparthied-like cliche' as the reason we are at this point is far different than Aparthied was in Africa and it is a disservice to equate them from either side. However, I see no solution to this other than each party agreeing not to get what they want and Jerusalem becoming internationally owned and they just arent going to for that as it has been on the table for decades.

The transport by trucks is not enough to feed and supply one of the most densely populated places in the world. Consider it this way using your KFC fix, if you felt hungry for a dinner box but knew that you had to risk passing through an Israeli military post that you know is occupied by guys and gals that probably didn't like you very much would you go? Probably not, but why should you be restricted. We don't understand this kind of restriction because we live in a free country where you go anywhere you want at anytime without someone looking at you as a potential threat. For Palestinians living this daily the tunnel system is a god send, get their KFC and back in time to watch Amr Khaled before bedtime.

Why might this be. Answer that, and you now know why the walls are there. There are no total innocents in this issue and plenty of mistrust on both sides. It is hard trust someone whos faith and leaders acknowledge that the destruction of you and your way of life are among its top goals.

It is kind of funny that we only talk about the Israelis blowing up the tunnels. What about their Arab brothers in Egypt?

international QUOTE
Following the 2013 Egyptian coup d'etat, Egypt's military has destroyed most of the 1,200 tunnels which are used for smuggling food, weapons and other goods to Gaza. After the August 2013 Rabaa Massacre in Egypt, the border crossing was closed 'indefinitely'.
WIKI

1200 tunnels destroyed and not barely a peep from the media.

A Gaza seaport has been in the last 3 agreements between Israel and the Palestinians. So why hasnt it been built or allowed to be built? Israel wants the Palestians to disarm (Kind of like the Good Friday Deal in N.Irealand) before the allow a seaport there. The Palestinians want the port, but apparently, it isn't a high enough requirement. Apparently, their money is ear-marked for more important things. So it is that age old chicken and the egg thing...

But back to KFC... KFC actually has a few franchises now in the Palestinian Territories. During a particular period of peace where very few missiles were fired, they started operations there. Perhaps that might be a good lesson to follow.

Why might this be.

We know the answer, my point was the ones with the guns at the check point aren't Palestinian.

Please understand I'm not justifying it I'm just interpreting why they are there. For me blowing up the tunnels is the same as blowing up transshipment lines to prevent one side from getting what they need. You don't need tunnels to shoot missiles into Israel.

I didn't go into Egypt because this all seems to be about Palestine and Israel but whatever the Egyptians do they have their reasons for it.

Israel's Video Justifying Destruction of a Gaza Hospital Was From 2009:

A video distributed by the Israeli military in July suggesting that Palestinian fighters had fired from the Al Wafa Rehabilitation and Geriatric Hospital in Gaza City was not shot during the recent Israeli attack on Gaza, and both audio and video clips were manipulated to cover up the fact that they were from entirely different incidents.
