This situation concerns me deeply. I do not think any human being who has not been charged or sentenced should be sent to live in such an isolation state. It is taking way too long and this people do not have to live like this. Something must be done to protect their rights and quickly.

Guantanamo Attorneys Say Suicides Reveal Desperation, Hopelessness at U.S.-Run Prison Camp

Three detainees at Guantanamo Bay - two Saudis and one Yemeni - were found dead in their cells this weekend. The military reported the men hanged themselves with nooses made of sheets and clothes. They are the first reported deaths at the U.S.-run camp. The three men had been imprisoned for up to four years and never charged with a crime. We speak with an attorney for Guantanamo detainees and former Army Chaplain James Yee.

EDITORIAL: BRING GUANTANAMO TO A CLOSE

Last weekend, on the CBS program `Face the Nation,` New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman referred to Guantanamo as the `anti-Statue of Liberty.` In other words, just as the Statue of Liberty has come to symbolize all the good things the United States stands for, the detention center at Guantanamo has come to symbolize American hypocrisy.

Okay, am I the only one who sees this statement as being foolish to the highest degree? You are in prison for years, held by military with no visits from anyone, so therefore you are not depressed?

It is a good thing they did not analyze the 9/11 terrorists because then they might have concluded "No, these guys are not going to blow up any tall buildings".

DOCTOR: GITMO SUICIDES PASSED PSYCH EXAMS

Three Guantanamo Bay detainees who hung themselves in their cells received psychological exams days before their suicides and showed no signs of being depressed, a military doctor said Tuesday.

Guantanamo Prisoners: Justice or Revenge

First of all, does the U.S. have any legal jurisdiction to operate this camp? And don't tell me because of the Spanish-American War, that was the American "Give Me Land or You Die Attitude", and what about the fact the prisoners can't see an attorney and not be sent to court before they are imprisoned?

Aren't we all, by the U.S. Constitution, allowed to a fair and equitable impartial speedy trial that we have to be convicted before and given Miranda Warnings?

I am not protecting the terrorists, God forbid, but they have really been played out with revenge?

Do you know the torture that goes on in Guantanamo?

Since the Guantanamo detainees are not US citizens, they do not have the same rights as citizens do under the Constitution. So, the arguments about a lawyer or a speedy trial do not apply. They are categorized as unlawful combatants under the Geneva Conventions, so do not even get the same considerations as POWs.

What, exactly, do you term torture that is being done at Guantanamo? It seems that the word "torture" is getting watered down lately, as simple abuse or humiliation is termed torture, in contrast to people having their fingernails ripped out, bones deliberately broken - piece by piece, parts of the body slowly cut off, etc.
