Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has placed its' military on the streets recently to keep the peace and this has caused a turn away of 1000's of tourists to the island. Tourism is one of the prime resources of the island's people. Do you feel it was necessary to call the military out in such a way just to sack some ministers?

That's not all that was happening, according to the article. They have been in civil war for many years, and the group Tamil Tigers has been preparing some sort of peace negotiations. And the prime minister and the president are at odds, as well, and the president apparently feels very threatened. I think they are a very troubled country.

Well there are two ways to look at this... rebels are humans too or let them get their aide somewhere else... maybe a third way - 'good for them!'. What do you think?

This civil war between the Tigers and Sri Lankan Government has been going on for years.

The problem is if the Government doesn't collaborate with the Tigers they will escalate their violence and the wider population will then suffer as well as regions of innocent civilians under Tiger command.

Certain factions within the Government of course won't want to negotiate what is widely recognised around the world as a notorious terrorist group.

Plus they fear this will be viewed by the Tigers as a shift of policy towards acceptance for the separatist group.

Hopefully they can come to some sort of arrangement so innocent mouths don't starve.

Getting to the end of this long civil war I believe may be a good thing for them. IF they have peace once again maybe tourist will start to come back there.
