I believe society is being brought up to believe that they should be dependent on these things solely for the purpose of profit. Just as burgers and fries are marketed so too are pills and injections.

People can just eat right and exercise and then they would never need to pop a pill. I guess you can take an occasional vitamin but that's it for drugs and your body. The food ads work to make you put on fat, get sick and then the pharmaceuticals come with the cure for all that food you've eaten. It's like a vicious circle.
