Toilet Panic

Hey, if anyone is in college and stays in a dorm please respond.  I have a question that's been bugging me for a while now.

If you stay in a dorm, and you have to share a public bathroom, how do you...go #2?  Is there just never any privacy?  That would really bother me.

PLEASE RESPOND!  Thanks!

A public bathroom is not the same as the one they have in jail. At least the one that is public has a door to its' own section. So I do not think anyone will 'see' you but they may 'hear' you.
Why are you so insecure about this?

You are there to study - don't worry about who is watching you. You may really find yourself watching others more than they are watching you.

Lastly, if you must have your privacy you can rent an apartment nearby (off campus). That is the best for your situation. Hope that helps

Kytin2, I know what you mean girl!. It's really something you cannot avoid, but think about that your roomate will have to face the same thing you will face. Whatever we do in the bathroom, is something normal and natura, nobody should be ashame or embarrased of something like that.
If what worries you is what happened after you do #2 like somebody else wants to go right after you, then there are little tricks you can do to 'kill' the smell for example: incense candles work wonderfully (you can give the idea to your rooomate, you can bring one of those candles and leave it right there in the bathroom and when you finish to do your thing, you just light it up. Look for the ones that have the strongest smell, they're very cheap also you can get them in the dollar store). Other trick is to light a match, it works very good too.
Do not over worry about such a simple matter, everyone of us do the same thing in the bathroom, there is nothing to be embarrased about.
All the best!!! smile.gif

You search for the best possible time to go to the restroom, and then you go. It is usually in between classes or early at night. Not late at night because that is when the guys who have been drinking  come back from their parties. No one wants to be around then.

The answer is simply: [red]You get used to it![/red]

I am male, and I was (and still am) amongst that small group of people who just never, ever, sit on a toilet in a public restroom. Once in high school I had to do it because I had a stomach flu and was about to explode. And on vacations I've had to either do it or else wait a week until getting home.

But that doesn't work in college. You can't wait until Thanksgiving, Christmas break, and Spring break to defecate each year. Maybe snails can, but humans can't (you'll be in the hospital before long with severe intestinal and colon problems).

But, take it from me, it gets easier and easier each time you have to do it. After a few months you won't even think about it. The first couple days you're there you'll even find there are some people who will talk to you from inside the stall while they're doing it. It just doesn't bother some people at all. You'll manage.

You're only other alternative is to find a school you can commute to from home. I live in Pittsburgh and my first year I went to Marquette in Milwaukee, but I spend my next several years at the University of Pittsburgh, which is close enough to home that I used to walk to classes from home if it wasn't snowing.

If it is too much to take, just walk over to the library, or some other open building. Many times the lobby of dorms will also have restrooms that are less PUBLIC than those on the floors.
