Zork charges the spiders as they are charging you. Zork hit the first spider with a devistating hit 24 damage but it still is moving. Abretch freezes with fear but is prodded into battle after Faerydae helps him unfreeze. He heads towards the battle along with the others. Spider three and spider four miss Zork, Avan sees the spiders are monstrous spiders and that their bite causes strength damage. HE misses with his first attack. Krusten fires at a spider hitting spider four for 18 damage. It is still going. Faerydae heads into combat but misses her first attack. Spider one lunges at zork and bites him for 5 damage need a saving throw vs poison for Zork. Spider 2 lunges at Faerydae but misses. Spider 5 lunges at Avan but misses.
Round two - Zork hits spider 1 for 6 damage killing it. Albrecht is still a bit fearful to attack the spiders. Spider three lunges at Zork biting him for 9 damage need two saving throws for Zork now. Spider four is heading over towards Krusten will get to her next round. Avan fires his bow once more hitting spider two for 7 damage. Krusten fires her bow at spider four again hitting it for 14 damage killing it. Faerydae hits spider two for 1 damage. Spider two lunges at Faerydae missing her. Spider five misses Avan again.
Round three - Zork swings at spider three hitting it for 9 damage. Albrecht is still frozen as he watches the battle around him. Spider three lunges at Zork again missing him. Avan switches to his quarter staff missing the spider. Krusten fires at spider two hitting it for 16 damage. Faerydae misses her attack. Spider two lunges at Faerydae biting her for 10 damage. Need a saving throw for her. Spider five lunges at Avan missing him.
Round four - Zork misses his attack. Spider three lunges at Zork but Zork leans back just far enough that it misses. Abrecht is starting to move again. Avan hits spider five for 7 damage. Krusten fires again at spider two hitting it for 6 damage. It is still moving. Faerydae has fallen. Spider two lunges at Albrecht biting him for 8 damage need a saving throw for Albrecht. Spider five lunges at Avan but he is able to avoid the bite.
Make sure you put any other actions and saving throws if you need them in your next combat rolls. Two spiders of five are down.
Lukas hears the following, "The bandits from the north are quiet of late. To the east there are hobgoblins and bugbears making travel hard. To the south there are rumors of some bandits that are even threatening the earls men. The the far north in the mountain passes there are some hill giants disrupting the trade caravans. The the west all is good so far.
Round five - Zork takes 4 points strength damage from poison, he swings and hits spider three with vengence causing 16 damage. The spider takes it in stride. Albrecht springs into action and splits up with champ so both can attack they both attack spider two. Albrecht does 4 damage and champ does 6 damage killing spider two. Spider three lunges back at Zork biting him for 5 damage. Need another saving throw. Avan casts summon nature's ally II and summons a black bear. The bear will be able to attack next round. Krusten fires at the spider three hitting it for 10 damage killing it.. Spider five attacks Avan missing him.
Round six. Zork needs to move to attack, Albrecht and champ needs to move to attack again, Avan attacks spider five for 4 damage, the black bear attacks for 10 damage. Oh and the cat hits twice plus one for last round so a total of 17 points damage to the spider this round. It takes the damage and is still moving. Krusten misses her shot (Natural 1 is always a miss). Spider five lunges at Avan biting him for 10 damage, need a saving throw for Avan.
Round seven. Zork attacks spider five along with Abrecht and Champ and Krusten doing a impressive 22 damage from four fronts killing it. The fight is over. Faerydae continues to bleed out. She also took six damage to her strength. I have her at - 6 total now.
Those in town. Lukas over hears the guards talking about how they want to go east to clear out the bugbears and Hobgoblins but no one knows exactly where they are. If someone could scout out the area to the east to find out where they are that could be helpful. The pay would not be that great but the danger will be. 25 gold to the persons who can pinpoint their location or hideout.
With the cure minor wounds spell from Avan and the cure light wounds from Albrecht Faerydae is back up to 3 hit points. Albrecht uses his second cure light wounds on Zork bringing him up to 2 hit points. Zork also takes another 4 points damage to his strength. Those who suffered strength damage will gain some back with rest. 2 per day with eight hours of rest.
Aliana and Lucas decide to head east to see if they can scout the area the Hobgoblins and bugbears inhabit. They travel for a day on foot with no issues not seeing any signs of them.
I will need spot and listen checks from everyone and any specific actions you have in mind.
Aliana and Lucas - The night passes quietly and the morning dawns clear and bright. The road you are following begins to head in a slightly north East direction and the woods begin to thin out some. A little after midday you come to a fork in the road. The left track heads NE and the right track heads almost due east. Which one do you wish to continue on?
Party - The next day Avan restores strength to Zork and Faerydae. They both can fill their strength returning to them. While you did not find any treasure on the spiders you do notice that they have been following you. As you start out heading back to the town you can see the darkness of the forest ahead of you.
The party makes a camp at the top of a hill just north of the forest. The night passes quietly and you do not hear anything moving towards you or spot anything that would cause you issues.
Aliana and Lukas you head down the east roadway. Aliana spots some movement in the woods ahead of them as the day is waning.
The party heads south soon entering the forest. It is almost mid day when they pass the road that heads east that they are familiar with. You are not very far from it when you spot a caravan heading north your way. As the caravan gets closer the guards come forward to meet with you and ask you what if any issues you have seen in the north.
Aliana you spot a hobgoblin moving slowly through the forest ahead of you. It looks like it is building something but you will have to get closer to see.
While Aliana is not very silent the hobgoblin is not paying attention to anything around him at all (He rolled a 1) Aliana is able to get closer and sees that he is building a barricade across the road. You can also see a bit farther past where he is building a small camp with at least four other hobgoblins.
The caravan is genuine. They are heading north across the mountains to the next kingdom. They do not know anything of any fort.
