You continue south toward the farm as the mist becomes a drizzle and then a cool rain. You keep off the main track walking in the shadows and moving cautiously. the rain lasts all day and soon it is getting dark once again. you figure that your about two to three hours from the farm. Moving cautiously has cost you some time. You do not see anything out of the ordinary.
You continue on south towards the farm. It is soon fully dark out. With the rain and the cloud cover you are finding it harder to see. Everyone roll a d20 with a -4. If you have infravision as in the elves you do not need to roll you can avoid the trees and roots. IF you as a group decide to light a torch or lantern let me know. It will take another hour to reach the edge of the farm or the stump.
The two elves are busy trying to keep every one on the path and headed in the right direction. Namdar turns to ask a question and walks into a tree. HE takes 4 points stun damage as he curses loudly at the tree.
You all finally arrive at the back gate to the farm. You can see the fence is still standing. As you follow the outside of the fence to the area where the stump is said to be you do not see or hear anything unusual. The rain is starting to get a bit harder. You can hear the distant rumbles of thunder.
You find as the rain gets harder it is much harder to see the stump. You find you have to camp in among the trees to even see the stump. Hunkering down to spend a wet night huddled under the trees as the Thunder keeps getting louder and closer. The flashes of lightning arcs across the sky revealing everyone and everything in stark brief flashes. Searching the stump reveals it to be just a stump with nothing unusual about it our under it in the hollow. You do not know if there was a pick up of gold or not.
The day comes with everyone wet as the rain finally begins to lessen. You have not seen or heard anything through out the night besides the storm as it passed over head as it moved to the east.
As the rain finally quits you are more able to move farther away from the stump and still watch it for any activity. As the sun comes out you feel the air start to get warmer and your clothes begin to dry. You remain hidden for five hours and se no activity around the stump. For those watching the farm you will see Larry out in the field tending to his crop. He will go to the very south east end of his property a few times with a bucket. He always takes that bucket into the barn. It is a little afternoon when he finally goes into the house for what you think is a midday meal.
Namdar is able to get close enough and yet remain hidden to watch as Larry takes another bucket into the barn. You can see that the bucket is full of what appears to be grapes. When he comes back out with the bucket it is empty as far as you can tell.
When you approach Larry he will greet you openly and ask how your trip to the Dukes stronghold was. He will ask you if you met the Duke and if he had any news for him. He does not have any horses but there is a wagon that comes from town once every month and one that comes from the Duke once a month. Maybe if your needing a ride one of them can offer you one.
Larry looks shocked as the lady again asks him about orcs. He knows that he has not seen any orcs and that his step brother the Duke has regular patrols that make sure that the area around his farm is well protected.
At this time you hear some horses approaching. Larry looks over and indicates to you that here is proof as a patrol of soldiers rides up wearing the purple of the Dukes. One of the soldiers asks Larry if all is quiet. Larry tells him he has not seen a soul but for these adventurers. The soldiers look at you and nod before departing back towards the Dukes Stronghold.
Larry will tell you the next wagon north is due tomorrow.
You spend the rest of the day and the night lounging around larrys farm waiting to hitch a ride on tomorrows wagon.
In the morning after the sun is up you hear and see a wagon along with four guards enter the farm from the North East gate. When it gets to the barn Larry open the barn doors. He along with the guards haul out cases of wine and casks of wine to be loaded onto the wagon. When the wagon is half filled Larry announces that is all for now. The wagon driver hands larry a large purse of gold. Larry thanks him and the driver gets ready to depart. You all climb aboard and the journey back to the Dukes Stronghold begins. The journey is shy of a day and half by wagon. The wagon does not stop for the night. When you wake in the morning you are able to stretch your legs a bit as the driver stops to break fast and relieve himself. The sun is just past zenith when you approach the main gate of the stronghold.
