The cave you find has only one entrance and by the looks of it the gnolls have not used it for a long time. You find some primitive pottery that is broken and some crude made broken weapons. You do not see any small game to trap but set out some snares just in case. The night is broken up with some cries of dogs and hyenas that seem to roam close and then fade away. It is like they are toying with you some. Soon the sun breaks over the eastern skies but has yet to reach the darker lower areas of the canyons yet.
You do not go far from the cave as you look for the most active track when you are attacked. This is a coordinated attack. As the scout and Bastion come around a corner there are four Gnolls with bows waiting for them. The let fly their arrows while making a high pitched barking sound. At the sound a group of gnolls with Hyenas come around the corner behind the others heading towards the war wagon. I will need attack and damage rolls for three to four rounds. IF you wish to do something special such as spells or other things post it is your reply. I will need initiative rolls for the rounds after the surprise attack. Bastion and the scout each took 6 points of damage.
Avan casts gust of wind to help cause the archers to be obscured by the loose sand. The ones behind continue to advance while bastion rides past and then charges them. Their is a lot of squeals and movement but bastion still winds up with one on his lance dead.
Everyone heads towards the back of the war wagon as they work on defeating the bigger squad of Gnolls. Bastion is able to hit on of the Gnolls slicing it in half killing it. Avan casts Greater Magic Fang on Fluffles who attacks. Fluffles is able to attack on but just gets two good hits in doing11 damage. The Gnoll is still going. Fluffles is hit twice for 7 damage total. Bastion is missed but a few came close. Albrecht and Karma attack a Gnoll killing it with a solid hit with a quarter staff and a solid bite by the bear. Albrecht is hit in return for 3 damage. Bastion you got 9 healing back to you if needed.
Round three bastion is able to attack and kill another Gnoll. Fluffles is able to attack one and hurt it. Avan calls lightning on the archers as they fire their arrows He does not see a group that he can direct the alchemist fire into without harming a ally. Karma and Albrecht is able to team up to take another Gnoll down. Between the scout and the lightning one of the archers topples from the bluff. Fluffles is hit for 5 damage The scout is hit a few times and Karma is hit once for 6 damage.
Round four sees another archer falling from the bluffs as Bastion and Fluffles each takes out another Gnoll each. Albrecht misses with his attacks but Karma is able to get a couple good hits in on a Gnoll injuring it pretty good. The Gnolls attack back. One hitting Karma for 4 damage and one hitting Fluffles for 6 damage. Bastion has his armor scraped real well.
Round Five sees Bastion taking out two more Gnolls while Avan runs up and cures Fluffles for 11 points. Fluffles Hits twice for 9 damage on a Gnoll. Krama misses with his attacks but Abretcht is able to get tow good hits on the injured Gnoll killing it. The Gnolls hit bastion for 7 damage and Krama for 8 damage. The rest are missed.
Round Six - Bastion is able to take two more Gnolls out, Fluffles takes out another one and Albrecht and Krama take out one. The others break off and flee as Avan takes out the final archer that was on the bluffs. You can see less than six fleeing away towards where you camped out the night before.
!7 Gnolls in total were killed.
