Bastion speaks to the scout, "I would prefer to avoid letting others get the drop on us oddly enough. Are there any places within the canyon region suitable for these gnolls to live? If not, is there another safe path through or around to where they will most likely be leaving the other side?"

Albrecht listens with to Bastion asking the scout pertinent questions. He also preferred not to get ambushed in the canyon, but looking at the cliffs, he doubted there would be an easy way around. Albrecht and Krama kept sharp eyes and ears to watch and listen for trouble as the group discussed their options.
Bastion calls for a halt for now. If the others agree, it will give people a chance to prepare, and the druids to pick spells suited for the challenges ahead.
"I suggest that some of us use the rod to scale the cliff face and proceed slightly ahead of the wagon. We should be able to avoid obstacles and scout out probable sentry/ambush points from on high."
Out of Character: Going to guess a few things. Looks like we're talking about Ildrahil 50-75 feet ahead of the wagon, Albrecht 50-75 feet in front of him, Mr Fluffles and then the hired scout similarly distanced.
Bastion will likely be riding a few paces ahead of the wagon, ready to respond.
Out of Character: I agree with this assessment. Albrecht, Ildrahil, Mr. Fluffles and the scout (We need to know his name, so we don't keep just calling him 'the scout') will be up on the canyon walls (Using the Bastion's Rod of Lordly Might to climb up there), sneaking along to the best of their abilities. That leaves Avan, Bastion, Krama, and the wagon driver down in the canyon valley to continue through there.
