"I wouldn't underestimate the bond between these hunters and their animals," Avan answers. "They even look alike. But we've done all we can. Let's retrace our steps."
He first heals Fluffles with a charge from his wand, then asks "Is anyone else still injured?"
If necessary, Avan uses his tracking skills to find the way back to the battle and the wagon.
Staying as a black bear Albrecht uses his innate thought projection for the first time I am at full health, though Krama could definitely use some healing, maybe even two or three castings of cure light wounds. I am going to stay as a bear for now, until we rest for the night or my magic is needed. We now have 4 strong noses to try to track their scent, if we need. Where are we going to go? He is only able to talk to them one at a time. He directs the bit about healing to Avan, but the rest he relates to Bastion as well (In addition to Avan), so that they both know what is going on.
Bastion looks at the scout, "You are injured, do you require assistance?"
The warforged will assist the man if able, then see to securing anything of particular interest from the fallen, and checking for any survivors that might be able to answer questions.
Albrecht and Karma start sniffing around checking for which direction the ambush likely came from and where the rest of the Gnoll settlement might be. 20 Gnolls was a large group, so hopefully they could handle whatever was at the main camp. He started to wonder though if there would be any way to talk to these creatures. Surely they don't mean to be causing trouble, but his musing would have to wait until he could discuss them further with the group.

Avan heals Krama with two charges and the scout with one from the wand. He allows the horses a few minutes of rest before heading off again to find caves with evidence of lots of gnoll activity. He makes a mental note to ask the spirits of nature for more appropriate magic the next morning. If Albrecht wants to raise a point for discussion, Avan believes the party's actions can be justified.
Bastion looks to the others, "This seems a likely lead to me. Shall we?"
If there are no objections, he'll lead the wagon down the right path while the scouting group ranges ahead up top as before. He'll be paying attention to scent trails along the way, though he is still unused to this new sense.
