Held fast, Avan stands there, thinking. He thinks about his gear, about his friends just outside, about Fluffles. He shouts silently and begins tugging against the grasp of the draconids.
If he breaks free, he tries to tumble away, before casting his spell next round, scroll still clutched tightly in his hand. Otherwise he gives up after 4 rounds.
"Avan! Finally, lets get out of here." Bastion will usher Avan into the wagon, then give the signal to roll out.
Before he goes, he'll call back into the fog, "I thank you for keeping your word. In return, a warning. We were hired to end the threat the gnolls pose to the settlements north of here. We are leaving, but there will be others if the attacks continue."
"What. The. Heck," Avan says slowly and deliberately. "That b* has taken everything I have ever worked for! She killed my companion and now has a stockpile of gold and powerful magic items! She deserved none of it!
His tone becomes a hushed, conspiratorial whisper, "We know her tactics and her weaknesses. We can still strike! Either today or in due time of course, my animal forms are depleted."
Out of Character: Did Avan retain any clothing?
"We killed those who killed your companion, we know almost nothing of her tactics and her weaknesses, as we have only faced some of her minions, and we have no counter for a mage powerful enough to easily maintain that," Bastion waves at the incredibly massive fog bank as the group pulls back, "Since our last encounter late last night."
"Maybe we can take this place, maybe we cannot. I am certain only of one thing right now, that we will lose more lives trying."
"Moreover, you are alive and free only because I gave my word we would not return. I am not going to break my word today. Let us go back to civilization, pay to restore Mr Fluffles to life, and see where we can go from there."
Out of Character: We did specify before that most of our funds were kept in one of the locked chests of holding in the war wagon, since that quantity of metal would be prohibitively heavy to carry around. Avan should still have the bulk of his free cash.

Avan replies "On Fluffles life I swear at least I will return."
He sullenly takes a position in the wagon and asks for spare clothes, weapons, and armor from his companions.
Out of Character: Sorry, my premium membership ran out so I have to post here. Avan would share this info with the party anyway, to incentivise them to get it back. They were split up on my character sheet like that - as you can see it hasn't been updated since this latest debacle - Jan 9th.

That last list of equipment is separate because they were on the horse but… that suggests that I could not have shown her the potion of longevity. How do you want to play this? That I had it on me when all my gear was taken and it was recorded wrong? Or I think it's more exciting if I just tricked her and still have it safely stashed away?
And I'll leave the question of Money up to you - I think 1000 gold is a reasonable quantity to carry around. Though possibly Avan would have had a quarter of it on person because it doesn't weight much in his Handy Haversack.

Out of Character: Yeas all the stuff listed under your war horse can be kept Can say you tried to trick her with another potion. Save all but 1,000 gold as I do remember Bastion saying most of the money was in the chests inside the war wagon. The rest of your stuff however is gone.
"Then at the least wait until certain you will actually get revenge, and not more regrets. We number only six, and two of those remain unseasoned, no offense. We prevailed above with one of ours dying, but it was a touch and go affair. It will take patience, planning, and resources to handle far more in addition to the mage."
"And before someone mentions the gnolls, they're unarmed, beaten, starved, and no allies of ours. Their best move if freed would probably be to abandon us to the fight and make their escape. They could remain useful as a distraction, but any plan that depends on them staying to fight is on very shaky ground from the start. No, we are done here for now."
Unless given a better argument, Bastion will start escorting the wagon and it's passengers away from the box canyon and towards the best path out of the steppes.
