Out of Character: One of three possibilities on freeing the Gnolls.
1. They stay and fight with you.
2. They run off and disappear into the surrounding canyons and dessert.
3. They are too down beaten and attack you along with her and her watchers.
Avan says, "Let's return to the town and report what we found. Then we can go about seeing if we can get some help with this situation. An army, a wizard, or both would help."
After resting up for a time, the group gets back on the road once more, to the capital. Avan and the newcomers need new gear, and Bastion left behind a few in progress commissions that he needs to collect.
Out of Character: It looks like we may have lost Albrecht. Alchy's last communication was on the 22nd of last month.

Bastion seeks out the craftsmen he had contacted last time he was here. Hopefully his new blade was ready.
Along the way, he'll be keeping his ears out for any promising rumors, some achievable task that could be used to bolster the group after the debacle in the desert.
Out of Character: Reminder: I paid for a large sized +1 Adamantium Great Falchion with a Collision enchantment and a hilt hollow, along with a Scabbard of Keen Edges to go with it. Already picked up the strongarm bracers needed to wield the thing properly.
If everything's ready, he'd also seek out three potions, 1 each of Rage(750 gp), Haste(750), and Shield of Faith (900, at CL 18 for a +5 bonus).

Meanwhile, back in the capital Rivoril pays a visit in one of the more popular tavern's.
He has freshened up, wearing more scholarly clothing, with minor changes in his face, and hair.
He, spends some time with the barkeep, listening for rumors.
Not only, for particular quests, or task's, but even for mundane work.
The later, is to pass the time, and accumulate some more funds, needed for an expedition. He has worked as a Locksmith, previously. Can also help manufacture traps, for adventuring groups.
Out of Character: I will include two rolls, here, one for checking rumors in a tavern. The other for obtaining casual mundane work, in a reputable Locksmith, Blacksmith, or prison. With the recommended night stay in an Inn. To do all this.
Sounds like Avan actually paid for his +4 Wild Darkleaf full plate in advance. Source 4k He goes to the elven Smith to check on its progress.
During the day, Avan searches for a wizard capable of Scrying. He asks for a price to track his item stash separately to spying on the woman (Two casts of the spell).
He also asks around all the guardhouses promising information about the Gnolls (But not giving it away), looking for whoever is in charge of operations to the south.
At night he wraps himself in a cloak and acts like a mysterious stranger in the most popular tavern. He spreads rumors of an evil force in the desert with a stash of potent magic items. He seeks brave and experienced adventurers for a mission to take back his stuff, as well as cleanse evil.
Avan will pay 280 gold for each of the two castings of scrying, as he is not yet powerful enough to do it himself.
Avan thanks the armorer profusely and goes on to recommend his services to the party and anyone who may be impressed by his new armor. It's easy to be impressed by the fine handiwork of woven grasses, bark and twigs over which plates of heartwood show their layers and whorls and large, dark leaves cover the vital parts while maintaining flexibility.
Avan asks for payment for dealing with the Gnolls. After all they are no longer attacking and the party successfully performed a dangerous scouting mission. If they try to avoid paying, Avan negotiates down to whatever the guard believe the information is worth.
Avan keeps asking around for adventurers and mercenaries, even desperate impoverished people. He changes tack an starts offering a split of the stolen treasure. He does this for 3 days and nights.
Out of Character: And I believe the others were looking for quests and opportunities.
