Come on you coward's do you think they will leave you alone if we don't get them gone for good they will kill you all you might not want to fight them but you have no choice now they come to kill us all and take your woman for a fate worse then death * I shout in the street as I look to the east ready to fight.
Out of Character: Sorry for not posting as regularly in the past week. I will write what Avan would have done, without metagaming, then his current reaction.
I hope there is one more bandit still alive for questioning, as the one that fell under his horse was being struck non-lethally and received a tiny healing spell to stop bleeding.
In Character: Avan would have instructed the villagers to take in the bandit bodies to the temple so they can be embalmed or otherwise preserved and then restrained and consecrated in case they become animated undead. Avan suggests the 6 teens, inkeeper, priest, and fathers and husbands of young girls take the bandits' equipment so that they could feasibly defend themselves. Hopefully the innkeeper will feel a little braver while wearing the gear.
The horses are counted and herded to any stables that are around. If not, or if they don't fit, beside the inn works as well. Avan quickly checks their instincts and training as he tries to figure out if any are combat trained or not.
He then sets off with Arilynia to track where these bandits came from. The jackal sniffs around, while Avan assists the ranger tracking by sight. The plan is to stop short of the graveyard or ruins if we reach that far, otherwise to go as far as we can in half the time to evening so that we return before nightfall. If we're getting close to something significant, Avan goes quiet and begins moving stealthily.
If/When we return, upon hearing the sounds, but failing to see the source, Avan begins tying little cloth bits to his arrows and requisitioning torches, candles, lamps, (16 in total of any combination of those) and oil (Maximum possible) from the village. He is happy to pay, but no more than standard price. Avan suggests a plan of firing lit arrows out into the field, to see what we're up against and to block that route out of town as it becomes a blaze. He asks the teens how far think they can fire, and if there are any more villagers that want to perform distance shooting before retreating into their homes.
Rivoril, realzing that his team has no way of finnishing the task of digging the trenches. As more intruder's are approaching the town. Quickly issues another order to those that helped him.
"Come on, lets move quick up the stairs, at the Inn. We will get into a room, now," Rivoril starts barking order's at the teen's.
Specific Action: He, shows them the way, up the stair's again. Into a room on the third floor. Only this time he barricades the door, with a bed, and furniture. With, the boy's help.
Rivoril, instructs them to ready their bows. For shooting at possible targets below.
Rivoril, also gets ready his Composite bow for possible imminent attack, his eyes peeled, searching.
Having, told the boys to extinguish any lamps. Relying on his inate infravision. Having, a pot of oil handy for coating the arrows, just in case.
On hearing about the details, Bastion decides to change tack. He asks for lamp oil and other flammables to be put into smaller, throwable, containers. He'll also take a single fair sized cask of the same, at least a few gallons.
Then he'll ride out with anyone willing to harry the oncoming group as they approach.
Out of Character: if possible, trying to time it such that the group riding out meets the undead ten minutes away from the town.

Avan knocks on the doors on the east side of the village closest to the sound. "Your houses will be in direct danger of catching fire. You need to evacuate and move your precious belongings to the west or south, or to the inn. Right now!"
After suggesting we get on the roofs of buildings, Avan assists anyone climbing up, including the teens, scrounging up cloth and flammables if they don't already have them.
At another lot of houses, Avan tries to convince them "I need to set up a bucket brigade for just 10 minutes, to protect the eastern houses. After that you can return to the safety of your homes. Through our combined efforts all the undead will be burnt to ash and will never bother the town again. We did it with the bandits, we'll do it with these pests!"
He spends no more than 10 minutes on this, before mounting up and joining Bastion. He asks for lamp oil, tinder, torches and candles, collecting what he can and always mentioning that he can pay if needed. He separates his cloth wrapped arrows so he knows which to shoot first.
On hearing Avan, admonish everyone to get to the roofs, Rivoril suggests for everyone to do the same.
"Common, lets get to the roof, and take all our gear there," he says.
They, all get out of the room, remove barricades, and get to the roof via the attic.
Specific Action: Once on the roof, will get to the side facing dirrection of graveyard. Preparing to fire bows, with flammable, oil soaked cloth. Reading bows, preparing to set arrows ablaze. On approaching creatures.
After Avan has a few flammables on one of the roofs, he also rides out with Bastion. He plans to return before even the first flaming arrow is fired.
I think the fire break should be at the limit of our bow range, so about 1000 feet. And we'll continue pelting more fire arrows as they close, so 1000 feet all the way in to maybe 200 to keep a little distance to the first row of houses.
