OOC: Yeah, but 75 platinum? That means you have a total of 907 gold, including that gem, plus your gear. That's more than ANY level one starting gold, I'm pretty sure.

In a tavern not two days walk from the village, a bard whiles away his time seducing tavern wenches and drinking his fill of mead and watered wine. If one were in said village, one might note a hint of apprehension in his brow, as if he wished he were living adventures rather than simply regaling them to an eager audience.
