Once they regroup, Bastion speaks up. "We've lost the element of surprise, they have at least one asset we weren't aware of to begin, and we cannot be certain the familiar was their only eyes out here."
"The prudent thing would be cut our losses at the hawk and back off. Other opportunities will arise."
"That stated, if we can make it such that they think we've left, we can still pull this off. But we risk even nastier versions of that raid if they can still observe us."

Krusten looks at Bastion with red shot eyes, "What? You want to run like a coward little man? We need to attack and attack now, clit their throats and drink their blood! They shall not escape my fury!"
Out of Character: Yeah, that's just how she is… don't get her mad.
"Yes, we should definitely kill them all for this. But let us do it in a way that gives the advantage to us. Mayhaps they just us a caravan to plunder. If we move away we may still be able to attack when we planned, and with surprise. And then we can all feast in gore to our hearts' content."

"If we rush that place now, we all die with no real chance of harming them at all, and whatever plans for revenge you have will never come to be. There are many good reasons to lay down one's life, but a futile attempt to avenge an animal is not among them."
"If you want to take this place, fine, so do I. But we must find a way to make our plan work in spite of these setbacks before that is possible. You can help, or you can let them slaughter you, your choice."
Out of Character: Not exactly designed to defuse the situation, but Bastion doesn't have much patience for emotional outbursts .
Krusten isn't hearing none of it, she answers only, "Cowards, that's what you all are… a bunch of cowards!" She starts looking around as though she could find the enemy easily.
Sincing the high tension, Albrecht takes a few deep breaths before jumping in. "Krusten, no one is suggesting that your bird doesn't need avenging. I am all for making these gutless swine pay for waylaying us like this, but we must temper our emotions with wisdom. Let's redirect your anger toward constructive activities that bring us closer to avenging your bird, instead of railing against each other." Albrecht speaks in a calming voice trying to defuse the tension. He looks between Bastion and Krusten making sure neither is going to do anything rash before continuing, "Bastion, I am afraid we cannot let this raid go unanswered. They have attacked us, and slain too many of our party to leave this business unfinished. Unfortunately, we can't turn around until we reach the top of the hill. Let's face the task before us one at a time. We will regroup back at one of the derelict camps on the previous hills. Then we can come up with a viable plan to attack and reap our revenge. Sound acceptable to all?" Again he mainly looks at Krusten and Bastion, trying to find balance between their two quick tempers. He also looks at Ildrahil and Avan though after a beat insuring that they are on board.
Out of Character: We need to ask in the question thread if Bastion could have any chance of turning the wagon around in the middle of the road with his high strength; maybe if we cast bull's strength on him?
Avan had silently been watching the display of emotions. He casts Detect Magic and gives the area a clean sweep.
"We should certainly press on, but to act in anger is thoughtless. They still do not know about our potions. They will not have defenders lined up along the wall."
"That is fine by me. Let us continue up and turn around on top of the hill, then return to the last camp site to plan. With luck they'll see and think we're leaving in truth. Certainly not much point in hiding that we're here."
