Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 Play By Post Party Thread - Page 71

Namdar maintains a suspicion the elven newcomer may not be entirely on-board with him in one or more ways, but shrugs it off as he relaxes against the side of the barn, also wondering where the farmer is.

international QUOTE

"It seems the majority has spoken and the new additions also seem amiable, so  apparently there will be no particular money set aside for them from this revenue - however, if and when any new gearing up and outfitting is done, I will offer a few of my coins if needed, to the newcomers, if there is something they genuinely need and are a bit short, as having more people being more capable strengthens the whole party, ensuring improved safety and success.

He turns and nods to the newcomers, then continues addressing the rest of the party.

international QUOTE
If we go by the original group, we have seven: myself, Skedvick, Pundit, Beast {enjoy your shield}, Lionel, Krusten and Oliron.  Splitting this, again, assuming the 370 as the base, comes out to just less than 53 gold each, except myself, I'll take 52 to make the rest of the math come out at 53 even, for everyone else - math which was invented in and came from the Sumite Empire, by the way, but I digress.

I was thinking we could also simply drop 3 gold from everyone, a total of 21 gold, giving everyone 50 gold each, and use the 21 as a 'rainy day' savings, or a general party pool anyone can use from, or even help repair the farmer's fence - if not the latter, I will pay for the repairs or materials myself for him, as I feel, although he did no particular active service for us, he did share his land and food and hospitality and the best of his knowledge of the area and the orcs."

The half-orc absently jingles the leather pouch containing the party's pooled coins as he is thinking.

international QUOTE
"So again, remember, this assumes we are able to sell most everything, get all the money for the heads, and add in the money we have with us, so keep in mind it might not come to as much as I predict, but it should be close.

Namdar holds up the gleaming band of gold that the party liberated from the orcs, then looks at Lionel appraisingly.

international QUOTE
As for the ring... I believe we should see if we can find some way to get it identified or examined for mystical properties, and if it is 'simply' a gold ring, I leave it up to a vote as to who, if anyone, gets it, or whether it is simply sold for money."

Namdar looks toward the direction of the Village.

international QUOTE
"And yes, we need to decide, on the way and when we get back to town, what it is we DO want to do next, once we get our money situation resolved - do we see if we can find a more direct avenue to pursue, such as a 'dungeon', or see if we can accompany the caravan and protect it from orc raiders, or what?  I think I personally vote for the caravan escort, as it will be less walking for us hopfully, and seeing changing scenery, and a new location to check out at the end, and possibly orcs along the way.

But immediately, the concern is, do we continue now for three hours to the Village, without significant rest, or do we rest up here and head out later on?"

OOC: I posted for KNtoran that I'd like our party to do one or the other depending on the experienced estimates by the ranger and Namdar and such, who should know generally how far people can travel nonstop without it being possibly dangerous or otherwise detrimental - I'm hoping he will just make a ruling so that our next official posts will be as reactions to him either posting that we're back in town (or going there) or still at the farm.

"I agree, that they should not get any of the spoils, but like Namdar says there are things they probably need, and I am willing to help provide the means needed to get the items needed" Lionel says to Krusten.
"Yes that will be most helpful for Beast, he"ll be able to bash the shield against the orcs head and not his own", says with his smile widening.
Lionel catches Oliron eyes, he nods to show understands.
Lionel sees Namdar's suspicions of Amaruil, and nodded to show that he understands his concern as well, and says to him looking at the ring, "I am willing to let the decision on the ring go to the group", but the disappointment is clear on his face almost like a child not being able to get a new toy.

Listening to the farmer talking about another farm to the north has been ambushed and the owner killed, Gondrath feels the urge to go and investigate immediately.

But understanding majority of the group wishes to visit the town before starting any new quest, he says:

"The farm north from here being ambushed by other orcs sound like there still may be more roaming this area. I would be up for investigating the farmstead to the north once everyone attended their business in the town."

OOC: I added 200xp as per DM's message, and updated my stats accordingly.

Born Free says...

* Krusten is happy to be back in the town, she now wants to check her gold so she can better equip herself based on her newly found experiences. *

Well, how much gold do I get?

* Krusten stands with her hips t a slant as the star of the show. She knows her magnificent beauty is the envy of those around her and she plans to flaunt it for her own satisfaction and benefit. *

ooc: Do we still have the same options or do we need to ask around for what is available?

Namdar's legs begin to get heavier, the closer the party gets towards town, making him anxious to get a firm sit-down and relax on a chair or at a table or something of the sort - complete with ale if possible. He suddenly remembers to pull his cowl up over his head and adjust it until it allows him to see and mostly speak or eat or drink decently, but without giving much away of his features, from the depths of the hood - though anyone who really studied him might conclude he was probably not just a tall human, but so far, so good. He makes sure to passably bind and secure his weapons so as to not cause overmuch suspicion by any guards or townsfolk.

Although he always says, and does prefer the outdoors to the cramped, overrun feeling of towns, they do offer a sense of hectic stability, as well as finer amenities and opportunities. He briefly glances at some people with expensive baubles passing by, for a fleeting moment wondering how much they'd be worth if he were to "find" them accidentally, but then remembered he and the group had their own shiny trinkets to deal with.

He addresses the group who likely already wanting to wander off in different directions.

international QUOTE
"Before we break up about town here, I'd like to make sure of a few things:

1. I'm going to find the appropriate clerk or functionary to turn in these rather unpleasant orc heads and collect our gold, which I'm hoping shouldn't take so long.

2. I'm going to report the orc activity we saw, and what the farmer told us, and provide whatever other information we can, to the town council or mayor, and perhaps see if there is any news on the local orc activity nearer town.

3. I'm going to try to find someone to examine the ring, to see if it is significant, either as an antiquity or sign of nobility or rank, or bespelled, and then we need to decide what we are going to do with it.

4. We need to check on the caravan to see its current status or if it still needs guards and what the timeframe is.

5. We need to sell these other weapons to get the money out of those.

6. We need to divide the money up between everyone.

7. We need to resupply and reoutfit.

OOC: I'm not sure if the GM meant this camp at the farmer's, or the only time the party actually camped, out in the woods, but I'm not sure there is anyone still in the group that we found there anyway, so I'll let the GM make any corrections about the XP award, as it doesn't matter to me.

Oliron feels for the farm in the North that has been attacked. His mother being a farm owner in this land. Also remembering his families death from the orcs he wishes he could kill them all. Oliron has realized though not all can be saved, going north they may have been able to help or just seen a smoldering farm. Taking time there might make them just a little to late to save someone who really needed it. He and Jonas follow the party to town.

Oliron thinks to himself about the gold and what he could buy. A new cart for one, pops into his head. He had previously given his old beaten down cart and a few used barrels to the farmer as a gift. Knowing they probably would not survive a journey threw orc infested woods, and only slow the party down. Now though, if they followed a caravan he might be able to fill the cart with tradable goods, making a little money on the side.

Oliron stays close to the party in town. Keeping a watchful eye on the Half-Orcs of the party and of course his new found brother Lionel mostly.

ooc: I would like to purchase a new cart if we are following a caravan. I am not sure what goods would be needed were we are going but maybe if I looked into it I could find goods in my price range worth trade. D12 roll (to see if I can find such goods) not sure its needed but just in case = natural 1 and a 6

Beast counts in his head best he can how much something costs and the amount of gold he needs. He wonders if the tavern has any deer meat, he's hooked!

Rather off topic, but...
Jpatt, all for that just post it right away so we can jump over that like really fast and actually get back to adventuring again thanks dude.

Everything that concerned the farm seemed completely useless to Amaruil; she was determined to consider it a complete waste of time and gold. However, she could do nothing but accept it at that point. She nodded whenever the half-orc said anything about "gold" or "money" and then looked around town as they moved, lost in her thoughts.

At one point she looks at Lionel with a smile, wondering however whether she had to remind him of what he had promised her.
