Tobo comes to know the names of the rats as Squeaker and Football. He takes a bite of the gruel and leaves it for the rats.
Tobo whistles his time away in his cell. Talking passingly to the rats as if they were long lost buddies of his. Telling his tales of late with jokes and all.
SA: Waiting for his meeting.
After about a hour wait a guard comes to your cell and unlocks it. Opening the door he simply says follow me. He turns and leads you down the corridor to a flight of steps. Your led up the steps to a large room. The guard leads you to a desk. A rather bored looking man sits there writing on a piece of paper. He looks up at you and asks your name. As you give your name he writes it on the parchment before him and then hands it to you. He tells you to take it to the magister. The guard points out another desk that is on a raised platform. There is a wide clear space before the desk. As you draw near to the platform the man behind it looks your way. He tells you to approach. As you get close he asks for your paper.
He reads the paper. Then addresses you. You have been accused of breaking into the city after dark. How do you plea?
Tobo suddenly is not having fun. A look of dread comes over his face.
"Guilty.", no sense in lying it will just make them more angry. Tobo remembers this sort of scenario from his parents all to well.
His head droops in shame.
"I didn't mean to.", he mumbles quickly.
The magistrate looks at you. You have pled guilty to the crime of breaking in town after dark. You shall there fore pay the fine of 25 gold. IF you can not afford 25 gold you will placed in chains and work in the quarry for 3 silver per day.
You are directed to a third desk where a smallish man sits and collects the fines. He slowly counts your gold and when satisfied he signals to a guard. The guard tells you to follow him. You follow him down a hall and he takes you to a room. Here he indicates a worker who will take your name and then come back wit ha small chest. Inside you find your belongings and weapons that were taken from you. Once you have all your items you are free to go.
Your just off the main market place. The sights and sounds alone are enough to wake the dead you think. People are yelling and cursing as they either hawk their wares or try to move about. You can see Humans, Dwarfs, Elfs, Half-elfs, Halflings and even a few Gnomes and Half-orcs roaming about. All this is totally intermixed as people horses and even wagons or coaches trying to move about in the press. To you it looks like a big jumbled mess.
