Okay, at this point Bastion is thinking the watchers are some manner of construct as well. If approached from one of the cliffs not part of the Gnoll camp, how many are within a dozen or so paces of the edge?

All of them are always a within a few dozen paces of the edges as the bluffs are not all that wide. Averaging about 25 feet wide.

How you decide to do watches is totally up to you two. You can divide the shift in 2, 3, 4, or more hour increments. Half elves can see a bit in the dark look at racial characteristics in the players handbook.

Yes the Hyenas are more like fellow pets/companions and are never tied up at all. In fact they seem to willingly help the Gnolls as they can.

Is there any practical difference between the two directions? Thicker clumps of enemies, more difficult terrain, etc. One side has more cover vs ranged weapons, etc.
