I am wondering if we are surprise attacking them do we get 2 turns? One for the surprise and then the actual encounter round?

If you have surprise you get one round free attack. IF your running across a open area to attack that is your free round. After that one free round you roll for Init. And then the ones who have init. Gets the next attack. So you can possibly have the first two attacks if you have surprise but no guarantee that you will surprise.

My plan is this, I need a feasibility check:

1. The party charges and/or attacks from cover, or whatever it is they choose, and distract and mobilize the orcs to meet their charge, leaving hopefully few if any back guarding the people

2. Namdar sneaks in beside/behind the orcs, dropping caltrops, during the chaos

3. He finds out from the woman and man about the children inside, if there are orcs in there, and if there is an alternate escape (backdoor, window) from the house which everyone can use to get away from the orcs.

4. He frees the woman and farmer and takes them inside to where the children are, if it is a sound idea (not guarded/has an exit, can be barricaded, etc). If there are orcs, he'll have to come up with a plan or if it's just one or two, he and the adults may be able to rush them and take them out.

5. Otherwise he will lead the family back out as stealthily as possible, into cover and back to where some other member(s) of the party is, for safety, covering their escape if anyone follows

I think that you would just have to see what happens I can not comment on everything that is going on. I think the plan is sound as you put it but remember all good plans can fall apart with one wrong turn.

Of course. I'm saying that this is the position my character intends to be in, and the opportunity he is going to look into taking, if things work out correctly - mainly I was wanting to make sure I was close enough to the people/building from cover without having to make like a 60' move through open field, etc - you know, a reasonable quick duck into the fray to use the confusion, and go from there. If that's doable, then I'll use that as my post for my char, and will include it when I get everyone else's posts and then do the PL action.

Ok I understand what your looking for now. The distance from the woods to where they are standing is about 40 meters. They are in front of the house the barn that is burning is to the west and slightly behind the house. The house is made of logs and mud for mortar. The woods extend behind the house but you can see there is a bit of a clearing between them and the house.. You can not see anything some of the area because of the smoke.

I am confused, the way I saw this is we got the drop on the orcs. Moving up on them from downwind and hidden by smoke. Also I thought Namdar and Aive were moving together behind the house. How did they all get attacks on us and why isn't Namdar moving behind the house with Aive?

The orcs were having fun until a person comes screaming out of the woods at them. The smoke did not hide what they were doing so it did not hide you once you came out of the woods. Namdar and Aive have not been hit at all. From what was in the party post Namdar said he was over by the barn.
