The father starts his sentence today and after that he will have to pay some $48,000 for all the disruption he caused. He said he only pled guilty to keep his wife from being deported and really believed initially that his son might be onboard.
Now with the father in jail, a friend of him of 10 years is saying that Richard really thought the boy was inside the balloon, who do they think they're fooling? And to prove it, of course (he is a filmmaker) will release a documentary called "Balloon Boy: Guilty Until Proven Innocent" later this year.

Even though the husband continues denying it was an hoax and says his wife only admitted to it because she misunderstood the word "hoax", the police has released a video where she clearly admits the hoax was orchestrated for fame and money.
It is my belief that any profit these people make out of all of this should be taken from them and donated to the police and fire departments that had to waste their time on this hoax. Maybe that will keep others from trying some stunt that they dreamed up just to get attention.
