I agree with you that at 17 one knows it is wrong to kill and even that they are aware of what the penalty is.  I am just saying that I believe it is wrong to still be punishing that person for something they did at 17 by the time they are 40, if they have grown and changed while in prison.  This is a big if, but I believe that the person you are at 17 is a far cry from the person you are at 30, 40 and I don't know yet, but I would imagine 50 as well.  :)

thats why depending onthe crime they have probation hearings and stuff that allow them to maybe get out of jail....maybe.

Unless they have been put to death which is where this thread began .....or if their sentence is "Life without the possibility of parole" which has become a popular one in the states recently.

Then they deserve it, i don't neccisarely agree with capital punishment becasue alot of the people that get sent there are innocent, but alot aren't innocent and kinda deserve it.  Thats my opinon though, mine doesn't really matter.  I'm no judge, thats gods job.
