How Sad The World Is For Children

I am continually amazed by the kind of 'parents' there are in the world. What they put their children through is amazing - it's heartless!

Children Is World Sad How

It is so sad to see the World's Children face conflict. What is particularly sad about this situation is when the little girl said, she didn't want to share her toys with other children. How innocent to all that she is going through.

Nicaragua Mulls Abortion for 9-Year-Old Rape Victim

Managua, Nicaragua -- A government board was studying whether a 9-year-old Girl could carry a baby to term safely while considering her family's Request to have an abortion.

The girl's parents said she was raped in Costa Rica and have asked for the Government's approval to give her an abortion.

Abortion is allowed in Nicaragua only in the extrely rare cases of sexual Abuse, when the mother's life is in danger, and when the unborn child has Severe deformities. All must be confirmed by three separate specialists And a government medical board must give its approval.

It was unclear how far along the girl was in her pregnancy. In interviews With local television stations, she said she did not want to have a baby Because she didn't want to share her toys with other children.

Cardinal Miguel Obando y Bravo on Sunday asked that every effort be made To save the girl and her baby. He said he had spoken with doctors who told Him she could safely carry the baby to term. Pro-life advocates hope the Baby can be put up for adoption.

I think those who 'help' young people in these things should be prosecuted with a lot of vigor.

Teen Takes Drug and Completes Abortion in School Restroom

Houston, TX -- In a case that makes the complications from chemical abortions more dramatic, a Houston teenager aborted her second-trimester unborn child in a school restroom Wednesday after taking an abortion pill last weekend in an effort to end her pregnancy, a school spokeswoman said.

A Houston Police Department crime scene unit was called to the Rice School, an alternative kindergarten through eighth-grade campus for academically challenged students operated by the Houston Independent School District, after the student went into the restroom and aborted the baby.

HISD spokeswoman Heather Browne said the student, believed to be 13 or 14 years old, was an estimated 16 to 18 weeks pregnant when she took the abortion pill on Saturday that her boyfriend's sister had reportedly given her. According to its makers, the abortion drug RU 486 is not recommended after seven weeks.

"We don't know what exactly the medication was," Browne said.

The student was then taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, Browne said.

HISD will cooperate with any police inquiry, she said, but does not intend to pursue disciplinary action against the student. Since the pill was apparently given to the girl and taken off school grounds, Browne said, there's not a violation of school anti-drug rules.

"Whoever offered this drug to the girl could be covering the abuse of a sexual predator," Explained Elizabeth Graham, the Associate Director for Texas Right to Life. "Persuading this vulnerable girl to swallow a pill concoction to end her pregnancy could be enables a sexual predator to continue his abuse with no visible evidence."

Police took the baby to the Harris County medical examiner's office. As of Wednesday evening, homicide detectives had not started an investigation or declared the incident a crime but one said they likely will review the matter.

Texas law requires abortion facilities to notify the parents of a girl under 18 years old before performing an abortion. A girl may also seek a judge's approval to bypass the parental-notification requirement.

The Texas attorney general's office ruled in 2000 that the law also applies to RU-486. But the requirement of parental notification is on the person performing the abortion or prescribing the abortion drugs, not the girl.

"Because abortion and abortion pills are not safe for any women, but especially dangerous for teens, it is vitally important that the right of parents to be involved in the health care of their minor is safeguarded," Added Graham.

9-Year-Old Nicaraguan Girl Gets Abortion

Managua, Nicaragua -- A pregnant 9-year-old Nicaraguan girl received an
abortion at a private clinic and was recovering well, a private
organization said Friday.

The abortion took place Thursday night in Managua, said Violeta Delgado, a
spokeswoman for the Organization of Women Against Violence. She said three
doctors contacted the family and offered to carry out the abortion.

``The girl is fine,'' she said. ``She is happy. She is in an excellent
state of health. (The parents) are very happy also to have this situation
resolved.''

The girl's parents have said she was raped in Costa Rica presumably by a
young coffee harvesting farm worker on land where the parents of the girl
worked. Authorities there have taken a suspect into custody.

The family returned to Nicaragua after the rape and insisted that their
daughter be allowed to have an abortion. The girl was 16 weeks into her
pregnancy.

An abortion in Nicaragua requires a medical board's approval, but the
board earlier this week issued an ambiguous ruling that said the girl
faced the same health risks whether she had an abortion or carried her
baby to term.

Abortion is allowed in Nicaragua only in extremely cases of sexual abuse,
when the mother's life is in danger, and when the unborn child has severe
deformities. All must be confirmed by three separate specialists and the
government medical board must approve.

Nicaragua's Family Ministry had said it would seek to prosecute anyone who
helped the family. The Roman Catholic Church also tried to persuade the
family to have the girl carry the baby to term, offering to keep her and
the baby at a local orphanage.

How Sad The World Is For Children

I can't even comment on all this.
We here in the States see thousands of cases of child abuse, neglect and just plain old sorry parenting every day.

I think I have a pretty thick hide, but things like this just skin me down to raw nerves.

The only gratifying thing for the predators in these situations is knowing that their time will come...

A girl who was 11 when she was abducted nearly four years ago came home from
Mexico on Wednesday with two children of her own, and embraced her mother in a

Judge to Decide Monday if Parents Can Force Teen to Abort

Jackson, MS -- A federal judge on Monday could decide whether a
16-year-old Mississippi girl can stop her parents from forcing
her to have an abortion.

U.S. District Judge William Barbour issued a temporary
restraining order last week after the girl, identified as A.S. in
court records, called the American Family Association Center for
Law & Policy in Tupelo to intervene.

The girl had pleaded with her parents to let her keep the baby,
but they insisted that the abortion must take place. A crisis
pregnancy center had referred her to the American Family
Association, a pro-life legal group. Her abortion was scheduled
by her parents at a Jackson abortion facility for last Saturday.

Barbour's order said "forcing A.S. to have an abortion against
her will would violate her constitutional right to privacy and
bodily integrity" and cause irreparable harm. "There are no
medical complications to plaintiff's pregnancy that would require
an abortion for health reasons," the order said.

"Nor is there any evidence before the court to indicate that
plaintiff lacks maturity or is otherwise unable to make an
informed decision on her own behalf, especially one of the
magnitude at issue in this case."

This is the first time a case in which the parents were forcing
an abortion was referred to the center, said Michael J. DePrimo,
senior litigation counsel for the center.

However, one or two years ago, DePrimo said, the center
intervened after a young woman in Delaware's foster care system
wanted to stop government officials from forcing her to have an
abortion.

"The government backed down when we threatened litigation,"
DePrimo said.

According to state law and the Jackson Women's Health
Organization, the abortion business where the abortion was
scheduled, A.S. may not have had to go through the trouble of
getting a temporary restraining order.

"Any female, regardless of age or marital status, is empowered to
give consent for herself in connection with pregnancy or
childbirth," state law says.

Shelia Butler, the assistant manager at the abortion facility,
claimed if A.S. would have given the slightest hint she didn't
want to have an abortion, it would not have been performed under
any circumstances.

Abortion facility officials did not sense any hesitation from
A.S. during her first visit, Butler claimed.

The temporary restraining order, issued Friday, "was kind of a
surprise to us here," Butler said. Maybe "she felt that was her
way of protecting herself if her parents were going to make her
go through with the procedure."
