It is my opinion, that if the US is worried about borders, we should be worrying more about Mexico than Canada. However, on the other hand, most of the focus on border patrol has been on the Mexico-US border, which leaves the Canada-US border wide open. So, if a terrorist had to make a decision as to which border would be easier to cross, that decision might not be too difficult. The Canadians are just getting a raw deal because they actually come across the border legally, most of the time, so the US is sticking it to them by requiring a passport. It would be interesting to get some Canadian perspective on this, I agree.

BUSH STANDS FIRM ON PASSPORTS FOR CANADIANS
U.S. President George W. Bush won't change tough new identification requirements for Canadians entering the United States, but says he hopes new technologies can provide an efficient way to deal with the issue.

I just love this topic. Bush wants Canadians to have passports (which I am all in favor of), but wants to continue to allow Mexicans in without permission, passport, or even going through a border crossing!
As I have said before, I really disagree with President Bush on a lot of domestic issues. And this is certainly one of them!

Votes! Votes! Votes! Nighthawk. That's the reality. Logically, it does not make any sense since the US-Mexico border is the real trouble here. So the only thing I can think of is that since the hispanic population in the US is growing larger and larger, no politicians dare to make a move against them afraid of the results.
I agree with Canadians needing a passport to enter the US, but the rule should apply for every body and every country.

How on earth can Mexicans get in without a passport? It's criminal that they would allow Mexicans in this way, when there is an obvious illegal problem from that country.
I would have thought they would be more friendly towards Canadian visitors? Both countries should require passports, but in my opinion the Mexicans should also need a visa so US authorities can track illegals.
